Firstly, may we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Earls Court Business Forum. 2020 has been a tough year but, despite that, many of you have battled through and provided a great service to residents in Earls Court when you have been allowed to. We hope that 2021 marks the beginning of a recovery and we will look to support the local business community through this. Do get in touch if you have questions, comments or ideas about any of the items in this newsletter, or anything else to do with the Earls Court Business Forum.
COVID-19 Support Grants are Open!
Four COVID-19 support grants are now open to apply for from RBKC.
  • Support for those forced to close during the national lockdown beginning at the start of November
  • Support for those who have remained open under Tier 2 restrictions but who have been severely impacted
  • A discretionary grant for independent businesses and sole traders that have been severely impacted
  • A Christmas Support payment for wet-led pubs of £1,000
A fifth grant for businesses impacted by Tier 3 restrictions is expected to launch in the new year

Also, RBKC want to hear from businesses who have benefitted from grant funding for potential inclusion in the council publication 'Our Borough'  Please contact us if you'd like your story to be considered.

We work closely with RBKC, the Court, the Earls Court Development Company and others. At times we are able to share stories or photography from local businesses to be included in publications or marketing campaigns. Further COVID updates
London enters Tier 3
You will probably by now be aware that London moved into Tier 3 restrictions from Wednesday 16th December. This means, broadly:
 
  • Nobody may meet indoors with anybody not part of their household or bubble
  • Outdoor meetings of up to 6 are OK in public parks, playgrounds, public gardens etc.
  • Restaurants, bars, cafes must close except for to serve takeaway or a for a limited number of exemptions. Alcohol can continue to be served for takeaway as long as it is not consumed on any part of the premises
  • Hotels and other accommodation providers must close
  • Theatres and cinemas must close
  • Retailers, close-contact care such as hairdressers, sports facilities, and community centres may remain open with COVID secure practices in place
Furlough scheme and loans extended
The Chancellor yesterday announced the extension of 80% support for the wages of furloughed workers until the end of April 2021.

He also announced that businesses would be able to access government loan schemes until the end of March.
