The numbers are alarming. Using data from Feeding America, the authors predict a 56% increase in New Jersey's food insecurity rate as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. There are now 1.2 Million New Jersey residents struggling with hunger, 137,830 of which are in Essex County alone.Worst of all, there are now a projected 365,000 children living with food insecurity in New Jersey.
Furthermore, there's now over 2 million adults living in New Jersey who are struggling to afford usual household expenses and over 350, 000 adults currently backed up on their rent.

“Unfortunately I’m now unemployed and I’m a single parent as well. But I thank God for La Casa. They’ve helped me tremendously with the food they’ve given me. It really helps and I greatly appreciate it.”
