Festive Greetings
The festive season will no doubt feel completely different this year with all that has gone on – how could it not? It is doubly difficult because we all miss our usual means of support, the comfort of gathering with friends and family that are part of our traditions.
The year seems to have flown by and it doesn't seem long ago since we were starting to think about Easter just as we all learnt about Coronavirus and the impact it would have on all of our lives.
The Torquay Chamber have been extremely busy all year providing help and support to our members and the wider business community within Torbay. Notable projects have involved providing help and support with bounce back loans, government grants, and funding schemes. We have also assisted businesses re-opening after the first lock-down with toolkits and guidance for the provision of PPE.
Whilst the year has certainly been a challenge for all of us, and with many more months of uncertainly we want to look forward to the positives for next year. Torquay has been offered a Town Deal from the Government for an incredible £21.9m investment from the Towns Fund to drive economic regeneration. The funding will be used to deliver innovative regeneration and transformational projects set out in the Torquay Town Investment Plan. There are many other opportunities within the leisure and tourism sector such as the Bluefin Tuna conservation program we mentioned in our previous newsletter – we are currently in talks with MPs with the view to gaining serious momentum early next year.
Throughout the year we have done our best to be here for you and provide guidance and support. We wish you endurance, strength, health, and as much happiness as these times can allow!
