Legal Eagles Editorial Submission Request

I have asked Connie Vetter to forward this request to your organization’s membership as an appeal for contributors for the Legal Eagles column that we provide for our readers each year.

Because your membership list is confidential and I do not know who is included, you may find this request coming both from Connie and from me directly in our own annual solicitation. We regret the duplication and hope that you are not tremendously inconvenienced by it.

We have 13 slots to fill and hope that you will consider becoming one of our submitters. We have one slot that needs to be filled quickly for our January 22 issue as detailed below. If you are a “willing candidate” to volunteer to accept this urgent appeal, we would be grateful as we continue to flesh out the rest of the calendar year’s commitments. Email me at specialassignments@goqnotes.com if you are interested.

Thank you for your valuable time in reading this request.

Dear Attorney,

The year 2020 has been one of the most contentious years in modern history. With civil rights tested at every turn by the Trump administration, protests, and even more so the worldwide pandemic that has left our shear existence challenged and worrisome. Add to that the incredible siege and reign of terror against the LGBTQ community’s civil rights and personal safety, and all that has spelled major discontent.

Hopefully, with a reset in January when our country welcomes new leadership, we can begin to heal from all the injustices that we’ve experienced.

For this reason, specifically, and for others, your counsel will be appreciated to allow the LGBTQ community to hear about legal options in order to survive in the judicial system. And, because of that, your contribution as a rotating columnist for QNotes is crucially needed. So, we would like to invite you to be a returning or new contributor to our QNotes publication's legal column — Legal Eagles.

You might be one of those who may have wanted to contribute to our paper, but time was not plentiful enough for you to do so. And, you may have never considered penning a piece or being part of QNotes family of guest writers.

Because you support LGBTQ causes, not only in your own community but also in the world at large, we believe that our readers would be interested in hearing about your work in championing this cause from a lawyer's perspective.

The piece(s) you submit will be published in rotation with others throughout our editorial calendar year. We may choose to assign you a topic or would also be open to hearing your suggestions.

These series of columns are an on-going discussion of LGBTQ and other progressive issues and how they intersect with laws and justice. The topics are wide open, and all we ask is that your message is thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating.

We'd also welcome hearing about what your practice is doing around the LGBTQ member support area. What events do you host? What have you participated in within the community? That information can be sent to us at this email address for our News Briefs column as well. We always want to know what you are doing as it relates to support and inclusion for the LGBTQ community.

Many of our readers may find through your words a potential legal advisor. The exposure you could receive might benefit you too.

Let us know if you are interested and would consider providing us with a submission. We are beginning to fill our 2021 calendar now with submitter names. So, please respond quickly (or as soon as you can during or after this busy holiday season). We'll be looking to hear from you and to know that you're ready to join in.

I have added in at the end of this email a list of issues in which submissions would be used. You may choose to write to the issue subject matter or to write on whatever subject you choose. We’ll leave that up to your discretion.

Also, during the year, we publish special editions and you are welcome to submit a piece for that as well if the timing works for you. Other issue topics not included (not on rotation) are: Domestic Violence, Abuse & COVID-19, National LGBTQ Pride Month, LGBTQ Parenting Issues, Judicial Balance, Charlotte Pride, Immigration Issues and Minority LGBTQ Groups.

We have an immediate need for the January 22 issue since that deadline is more pressing for us once we get the December 11 and 25 issues put to bed in the coming weeks. If you want to be first, we'll graciously accept your submission while we get the rest of the year formulated and assigned.

Thank you for your valuable time.

Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from the staff at QNotes.
