Seeking the Beloved Community: From Racism to Reconciliation

As a part of God’s reconciling work, we are called to dismantle racism and build relationships across racial divides. On Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 9:00 - 11:30am, Mennonite Men will be hosting a Zoom conversation, open to all genders, with members of Seeking the Beloved Community, a group of Black and White men in Elkhart, Indiana who have been engaged in this work for seven years. A number of these are pastors and members of Mennonite congregations.

This interactive Zoom meeting is will consist of presentations from members of Seeking the Beloved Community, whole group conversation, and breakout sessions. As we engage with this group, we will discover:

• Hidden truths and fears revealed in our gatherings,
• How we change as a result of our experience together,
• How building community helps as a step to dismantle racism,
• Ways the Spirit works to form God’s beloved community.

We suggest a donation of $25—all of which will go to Seeking the Beloved Community to minister to needs in their neighborhoods. However, we invite anyone to participate regardless of ability to make a financial contribution.

Register for this event here, and we will send a Zoom meeting link to you.

New Study Guide and Kindle Edition Now Available for Book Peaceful at Heart

We are pleased to announce that a study guide for the book Peaceful at Heart is now available! Written by Dan Epp-Tiessen, Associate Professor of Bible at Canadian Mennonite University, and published in partnership with Mennonite Central Committee, Mennonite Church Canada, Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, and Be in Christ Canada, this study guide is a great resource to facilitate much-needed conversations about masculinity, church, and our Christian faith. Download the study guide here.

A Kindle edition of the book Peaceful at Heart: Anabaptist Reflections on Healthy Masculinity is also now available. Peaceful at Heart provides a uniquely Anabaptist voice to resource our discussions of healthy masculinity, whether individually or collectively in a book study group. This volume draws on the experiences of various contributors to present an Anabaptist perspective of faith that invites men to experience God's call to live at peace and be peacemakers.
