Newsletter December 2020

Dear Colleagues!

We hope you and all your beloved ones are all well and the situation regarding the Corona Virus is not impacting your life too much. There is a lot of information regarding Corona out there but if you would like to have high-quality information regarding Corona and SCI we recommend visiting the ISCOS homepage www.iscos.org.uk

ESCIF congress in Nottwill from 25th to 27th August 2021

In our last newsletter, the ESCIF executive board informed you about next year’s ESCIF congress in Nottwil, which was planned from Wednesday 28th April to Friday 30st April 2021. As you all know, since the announcement of the congress date, the situation regarding the Corona Virus got in most European countries critical again and many countries have travel restrictions such as quarantine in place. Especially Switzerland is hit hard by the virus and the development of the pandemic is difficult to foresee. For the ESCIF board, the health of its members is most important and we also believe that it would be difficult to organize a successful congress under these circumstances. Therefore we decided to re-schedule the ESCIF congress for summer 2021.

New congress date: Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th August 2021

We hope that the pandemic will be less critical in summer and that gathering together with precautionary measures will be possible. Also, it might well be that we will have – at least in some countries - a vaccine in August 2021. We are confident to be able to have an interesting and valuable program for you. For the latest developments and more information with regard to the program see www.escif.org. The registration for the congress will open in January 2021.

A new platform for online presentations

ESCIF is planning to get its members more involved and facilitate information exchange among all persons interested in SCI. Therefore the board decided to start in spring 2021 with a pilot online presentation about the ESCIF Help Alliance. Depending on interest we would like to make it a regular platform to have researchers, experts, or national organisations presenting relevant topics in SCI. The exact date for the pilot presentation will be announced later.

ESCIF Help Alliance

The ESCIF Help Alliance was very successful. We were able to distribute over 600’000 masks to our members for free. There are still about 300’000 masks available. So if you have a need for more masks, send an e-mail to secretary@escif.org and you will be contacted by your ambassador. Please also share and like the Help Alliance. www.protectthevulnerable.org

We wish you all the best and a calm and contemplative advent season!

Best regards,
for the Executive Board
