Fourth Sunday of Advent

Collect of the Day

O LORD, raise up (we pray thee) thy power, and come among us, and with great might succour us; that whereas, through our sins and wickedness, we are sore let and hindered in running the race that is set before us, thy bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us; through the satisfaction of thy Son our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be honour and glory, world without end. Amen.
Book of Common Prayer

Advent Reflection: 'O Key of David'

The 'O' Antiphons (The Great O's) are the verses sung before and after the Magnificat in the ancient office of Vespers during the last seven days of Advent, and have been sung in the Western Church at least since the sixth century. These antiphons are prayers addressed to Jesus in the vocative case (‘O’) using seven of his messianic titles from the prophecy of Isaiah. They are: O Sapientia (O Wisdom), O Adonai (O Lord), O Radix Jesse (O Root of Jesse), O Clavis David (O Key of David), O Oriens (O Dayspring), O Rex Gentium (O King of the Nations), O Emmanuel (O God with Us).
This week's reflection is from Fr Gary. Click on the image above to watch, HERE to read the text and HERE to listen to our musicians sing the antiphon.
