Happy New Year Everyone, and welcome to 2021!

As we put 2020 behind us, let's hope that 2021 will be a much better year for many people, especially with the COVID situation. You'll find links below to the Ottawa real estate stats for 2020.  Despite the COVID lockdowns and restrictions, the patterns in real estate are similar to those of 2019 (other than prices being up quite dramatically in Ottawa).

The Ontario government deemed real estate to be an essential service.  So transactions continued on a fairly consistent basis after the first month or two of lockdown when people were still trying to determine how to safely show or visit a property. For many people buying or selling last year was not an option but an absolute necessity depending due to life situations.

We've now entered a more stringent lockdown in Ontario for the next few weeks. The safety protocols that the real estate industry put in place are allowing the home buying and selling process to continue as it has for the past several months.

Check out the statistics through the links (thanks to Steve for posting an article on rotating and moving buildings).  Not sure who would want to live there - it makes my stomach queasy just looking at the video of the twirling high rises - lol

As for 2021, it looks like real estate is again off to a busy start. The expectation is that prices in Ottawa will continue to rise.  We're just a few days into the new year and the activity on the MLS would indicate that this is indeed the case.

Here's hoping that 2021 brings you all a better year with health and happiness and a chance to travel and enjoy your friends and family.

As always if you we can answer any questions or help you and yours in any way don't hesitate to give us a call or email.

Cheers,
    Eric, Steve, and Judy
