Parents/Guardians of Hayhurst students can nominate students Kinder and up using this virtual form available here. All forms need to be submitted by December 18th, 2020 in order to be nominated this school year.

Library News: OBOB for Grades 3-5
|

Hayhurst has a long tradition of participating in OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) and while things will look different this year we are excited to continue that tradition.
Since we can create any OBOB experience we’d like this year (no regional or state battles unfortunately) we’d like to form teams (3-6 kids per team to make it manageable) with a parent coach.
Each team will read from the list of official OBOB titles for their grade level and then complete two activities to receive an OBOB certificate (and possibly a small prize). The list of activities to choose from will include: a virtual escape room, creating a Jeopardy game, a virtual battle with another team and more.
We’re flexible about the timeframe (no rules - yay!) but if your child is interested please fill out this survey before the end of winter break.
A limited number of OBOB titles will be available to check out at Wednesday’s library book bag distribution so please stop by if your child would like one. Some of the titles are also available as e-books through the Hayhurst library’s catalog (Sora accounts). Please only checkout one e-book at a time.

Library News: Winter Break Reading Bingo

It's so important (and fun) to keep reading over winter break so how about a reading challenge? It's Winter Break Reading Bingo!
You can download and print the bingo card (in English or in Spanish) or if you don't have access to a printer you can make your own bingo card using the categories on this card (or make up your own!).
Ms. Chambers and Ms. Jones are going to try to cross off every square!

Library News: Book Pickup and Returns

Just a reminder that Wednesdays 2pm-4pm we will be handing out bags with 7-10 Hayhurst library books. This week is primarily for families whose last name begins with A-L.
We won’t be handing out books over winter break, but after the break we’ll be there every Wednesday 2pm-4pm (any last name beginning after the break).
If you have Hayhurst library books from last year you can also return them during the library book bag distribution.

Going into the winter months can be difficult and there has been a lot of interest in finding new ways to keep morale up throughout the rest of our time in distance learning.

Renaming of Wilson HS: Seeking Community Feedback on Name Finalists

The committee for the renaming of Wilson High School has thoroughly reviewed all community input received by the November 30th deadline and has arrived at a list of five finalists who meet district policy for the new name of our school!
Now the committee is seeking community feedback to help inform their final proposal to the superintendent and the school board.
