IMPORTANT NOTICE!
2021 MAC Inc. FINAL YEAR.
Moira Arts & Culture Inc. (MAC Inc.) was established by Moira Shire Council in 2013 to stimulate, enrich and support creativity in our communities. The council appointed a board of interested volunteers from across the Shire with the appointment of two Councillors and Moira Shire Arts & Cultural Officer as Executive Director. Funding was provided for a three-year term.

With a change in Shire management, a further three years sponsorship was granted, but for “governance” reasons, Moira Shire and MAC Inc. would be at arm’s length. Thus, the services of the Arts & Culture Officer and the appointment of two councillors were withdrawn.

The volunteers on the MAC Inc. Board continued to provide art and cultural activities, using the expertise and experience gained.

Moira Shire Council has released an Arts & Culture Strategy which no longer supports or sponsors MAC Inc. and made MAC Inc. redundant,  the new Shire Creative Hubs application notice did not eventuate until 12 months after making MAC Inc. redundant.

MAC Inc. had entered into contractual obligations with producers, promoters and artists for 2020, much of which had to be planned 12 months ahead.

MAC Inc. planned to honour these contractual obligations in 2020 using available funds from ticket sales and grants.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, restrictions and limitations, the performances and event scheduled for 2020, had to be cancelled.

Many of these performances and events have now been rescheduled for 2021.

MAC Inc. is proud of its achievements, fulfilling its obligations to Moire Shire Council and the ratepayers of Moira Shire in stimulating and enriching arts and culture.

MAC Inc. over 7 years has presented events itself and in co-operation with community orgnisations in Yarrawonga, Tungamah, Katamatite, Cobram, Strathmerton, Numurkah and Nathalia.

MAC Inc. has also provided sponsorships to local organisations to present their events as well as sponsoring awards at the Yarrawonga, Cobram, Numurkah and Nathalia Agricultural Shows, and presentations at the eight Secondary Colleges in the Shire.

MAC Inc. thanks its many supporters over the years who have appreciated and supported our endeavours.

Essential Theatre's ROMEO & JULIET.

We are thrilled to be presenting Shakespeare’s tragic love story Romeo & Juliet, the 19th season of Shakespeare in the Vines by Essential Theatre.

A violent street brawl between rival families the Montague’s and Capulet’s is the prelude to Romeo’s first encounter with Juliet. Despite this, and the fact that Juliet has been promised to another man in marriage, they fall in love. But any plans for their future happiness are cruelly destroyed by renewed violence between the two families.  With its wonderful combination of lyricism, comedy, suspense and drama, Shakespeare’s heartbreaking tale is one of the greatest of all love stories.

“But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun”

COVID-19 has impacted our summer plans however we are working hard at getting this show on the road.

There will be differences as we follow COVID-19 protocols in place at the time.

1. Preference for online booking.
2. Contact details to be recorded for all attendees.

The Spooky Men's Chorale
Moira Arts & Culture Inc. proudly present "The Spooky Men's Chorale" on Tuesday 25th May 2021 in the Numurkah Town Hall.
The Spooky Men's Chorale emerged blithering and blinking-eyed from the Blue Mountains of NSW in 2001, armed with no more than their voices and ill-matched set of hats. It is no so much comedic as hilarious, not so much shimmeringly perfect as pleasingly deeply human.
The Spooky Men's Chorale offers an experience that is both hugely entertaining and surprising profound.

There will be differences as we follow COVID-19 protocols in place at the time.

1. Preference for online booking.
2. Contact details to be recorded for all attendees.
3. Social distancing in venue.
4. Good personal hygiene, with hand sanitiser and wipes available.
