INSIDE GGA
Hey there holidays!
We don't know about you, but the GGA team is ready for a vacay. The end of 2020 has seen some very exciting opportunities come our way but tight deadlines as well. We thank all that have been working with us closely on pipeline projects we hope will bring plenty of value to the network in 2021 and beyond. The GGA office will be closed 24 December - 3rd January.  From all of us at GGA, we wish you a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, hoping there is time for all to recharge over the festive season.

Here's to achieving great things together with the network in 2021...
 
GGA Governance Podcast Airing in January
Set to air mid January, a new 6 Episode podcast has been produced especially for the GGA Network on Governance for "Not for Profit" groups. "Lets talk Governance" is another project brought to life with the support of the CBH Group and features 6 interviews with Governance expert Peter Fitzpatrick. Designed to be listened to as a complete series (all 6 episodes) the collection will be a great refresher for anyone who has attended the GGA one day workshops over the last few years and an ideal introduction for those new to committees without any prior background training or experience. 
 
Diary dates for GGA 2021 Program
Browse our 2021 Program summary to get across the GGA opportunities for your group in the way of capacity building, collaborative extension projects in the regions with grower groups plus key GGA diary dates. All events are featured in the GGA calendarand individual communication updates will be mass emailed to the GGA Network regarding each.

Healing the land Healing Ourselves - Bushfire support 
In Australia, fires have burned over 18 million hectares since September 2019. Lives have been lost, species populations devastated, and the ongoing ecological and biodiversity doesn't go unrecognised. Highways and Byways is offering small grants for the value of up to $3000 for projects working to restore the land.

Traceability Grants Program - Round 2
As part of the Modernising Agricultural Trade initiative, this program provides opportunities for successful applicants to conduct projects that will enhance the supply chain traceability systems and support agricultural export. Find out more here.

Strengthening Rural Communities - Small & Vital
These grants offer an opportunity for regional Australia to access support for;

  • Delivering activities, programs and services;
  • Purchasing or hiring equipment and materials;
  • Community infrastructure projects;
  • Operational and administrative costs associated with your project will be considered.

Youth in Ag - Owen Brownley Fund
Are you a youth in the ag industry looking for financial support for education and innovation? This is the grant for you. From an esteemed leader to our future leaders the Owen Brownley fund was created to support young ag minds in their studies, to attend conferences and other professional development endeavours. LEARNING & LEADERSHIP 
GGA Diploma of Project Management 2021
Just 5 places left to study with a like-minded cohort and build your personal ag industry network completing a Diploma of Project Management with GGA. This will be an immersion learning, collegiate experience, designed to give participants the opportunity to build connections and network with staff from other Grower Groups and the wider agriculture industry. $1490 pp includes course, accommodation and all meals.

Registrations close February 15 (priority to GGA network members). 


33rd Australian Association of Animal Sciences Conference
Formerly known as the Australian Society of Animal Production conference, next years event will be held and broadcast from the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle, 1st – 3rd February 2021. The event will be run as both a virtual and in-person conference. For more details browse the event web page here. Whilst it's a three day event, growers and grower group staff/executives are encouraged to attend the industry day on Monday 1st Feb - called The Great Livestock Industry Day Out, which is being offered at a reduced rate of $130 for the day. Expression of interest will allow those interested to receive event updates during Jan and a reminder to register closer to the event.



RuralBiz Diploma of Agribusiness Management at Muresk Institute in 2021
Build farm management skills and gain a nationally-recognised qualification. This blended learning format is designed to develop farm production and management skills through the combination of study and integrated engagement with industry and practical experiences. Charles Sturt University 2021 Scholarships OPEN
Applications for a variety of scholarships, including the Robertson Scholarship vaued at $40,000, are available to students studying agriculture and other fields.

The National Centre for Farmer Health is taking applications for a 5 day intensive introduction taking place from February 22 - 26 for the 2021 course available online.

Applications for 2021 AgriFutures Horizon Scholarship Program now open.
Students entering their final two years of an undergraduate degree who are passionate about the future of Australian rural industries are encouraged to apply. In collaboration with many of the Research and Development Corporations (RDC’s)  Agrifutures will provide eligible university students with a $10,000 bursary over two years and plenty of opportunities to develop their leadership skills and expand their networks.
