Merry Christmas

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

However you are spending this year I pray it will be happy and safe for you all.

I will be finishing for Christmas on Thursday 17th December and returning on 5th January and will not be accessing my emails in that time.

Church House will also be closed from Thursday 24th until 5th January so any queries will be responded to after that time.

See you in 2021,

Lydia Remick
Local Worship Leader Coordinator

Prayers and Intercessions Workshop

How do we lead other in prayer?

I will be offering the Prayers and Intercessions Workshop again on Wednesday 20th January 2021 - 11am-1pm

This interactive workshop for Local Worship Leaders will look at why we pray, the difference between private prayer, public prayer and intercession, and how we lead others in prayer.

We will look at different ways to pray, how to construct our own prayers for public worship, how to have confidence in leading prayer, and creative ways to help others pray.

Book here

For this months prayer would like to share a prayer which was used in the closing prayers of Sunday Plus on Tuesday night by one of the group who are training to me Local Worship Leaders in St Mylor.

It touched me greatly as we think of Jesus as the creator of the world, before and beyond time yet also human who knows us dearly.

Adventus

With expectant waiting we anticipate your coming.
Come close to us, Lord, come very close.

Come, Alpha and Omega, who is from before the ages.

Come, Son of Joseph and Son of Mary,
who went down to Nazareth to be obedient to them.

Come, Morning Star, who named the stars.
Come, carpenter from Nazareth, who knows the smell of planed wood.

Come, Beloved Son of God,
who knows the heart of God.
Come, Son of Man, who knows the hearts of God’s people.

Come, Lord of Life and Prince of Peace. Come, Dayspring and Rising Sun. Come, Wonderful Counsellor. Come Emmanuel, God with us; God very close to us.

Amen.

Local Worship Leader Training
Sunday Plus - Blended Study

Sunday Plus (the initial training for Local Worship Leaders) is now successfully being held on Zoom and combines self study, group discussion and online learning.

Due to indicated demand there will be two courses in the New Year and there are currently still spaces.

These will start on Wednesday 13th January and Thursday 14th January and will both run until May with a break over Easter.

If you are interested in becoming a Local Worship Leader, or are a member of clergy and would like more information please contact me on lydia.remick@truro.anglican.org

Local Worship Leader Network meetings

A time to get together with other Local Worship Leaders.

I will be continuing to offer a monthly space to gather on Zoom for general discussion and to answer any questions you might have relating to being a Local Worship Leader.

There will not be a session in January but from February I will be alternating these events between Monday and Tuesday morning.

The date of the February meeting will be sent out in the January edition of Worship Matters

If you have anything you would like me to focus on for a future network event please let me know on the above email address.

Please note these meetings are for Local Worship Leaders and prospective Local Worship Leaders only and I shall be checking against the Local Worship Leader database before sending out the Zoom link so please let me know where you are based to make it easier for me to check.

Help! It's the 'Talk Slot'

I will be offering a new Workshop in the New Year looking at different ways to deliver the 'talk slot'

Come and join us for a time to look at different ways to unpack the Word of God for our congregations.

Local Worship Leaders might not be authorised to preach but there is so much more we CAN do instead.

We will touch upon;

  • How different people learn
  • Where to find reflections and mediations
  • How to run a discussion based talk
  • Ways to share your own thoughts on a passage
  • Activity based services

In line with Diocesan guidelines this workshop will include a break

This session is initially reserved for Local Worship Leaders.

Book here.
