Last week, Nate Muse taught us from Luke 1:67-80, Zechariah's song.  Here are some key topics:
  • God chose to break 400 years of silence through a common, "blue-collar" priest, not a high priest or "famous" person.
  • Zechariah and Elizabeth had been praying for a LONG time. It was likely they were wondering if God had forgotten them. But silence doesn't mean absence.
  • Even in our waiting, God is working.
  • Zechariah didn't respond with faith but with a question.  God allowed him to be silenced for a time as a sign of being at work. When Zechariah, in faith, said, "His name is John" his tongue was loosened and he shared a song (likely born out of weeks of meditation in his silence) showing the following.
    • 1. What God has done:
      • Raised up a horn of salvation
      • Jesus isn't just with us but intends to do something about it
    • 2. Why God has done it:
      • To show us His mercy, His glory, His heart
    • 3. Who will accomplish it:
      • The Son of God
      • The Messiah
      • The Mighty Christ
  • Obedience that responds to mercy is a better motivation than responding to fear.
  • Zechariah doesn't mention any personal things in this song. He's completely amazed by a merciful God who hasn't forgotten His people.
  • For every obstacle, there is new mercy. His mercy will never run out.
  • This is Advent.  This is Christmas. Our Hope is IN CHRIST.

COME PLAY WITH US!

We are looking for a few more Dream Team Members who want to serve in our Infant-Toddler Nursery. One Sunday a month, you would get the opportunity to serve our youngest church members by teaching our littles about Jesus through singing, playing, reading, and a craft. All resources are provided, you just get to come and play and minister :-) If you are interested in joining this Dream Team or would like more information, please contact

Sandi Yaggie: yaggiepaparazzi@gmail.com 864-908-1645 or Lisa Muse 864-234-1157.

2021 - 24 Hours/21 Days of Prayer
January 3-4, 2021 then through January 23, 2021

We will kick off our 2021 21 Days of Prayer with 24 Hours of Prayer on January 3-4 and continue a fasting/prayer focus through January 23.  Here are some details:
  • The initial 24 hours will be covered completely at home. We will NOT be opening the church for it this year, but we ask that you sign up to claim an hour (or more) for focused prayer using this link or by signing up at church this Sunday.

  • We will have three Wednesdays of onsite prayer with the church open on January 6, 13, and 20 from noon-1pm.

  • We encourage you to fast in the way God leads you. Some fast from food completely, others temporarily suspend social media, coffee, sugar, or some other routine habit/activity in order to focus that energy on prayer.
Thank you to all who provided messages for cards, helped pack boxes and delivered to the employees. This is a yearly tradition the city employees have come to enjoy!
