Undergraduates: GESI will be offered in Spring 2021! Applications will open next week for the Spring 2021 GLO program, GESI 2021: Virtual Global Development in Action. GLO is offering a virtual rendition of the GESI program in lieu of canceled study abroad programs due to COVID-19. This is a unique hybrid opportunity to explore complex questions through coursework while simultaneously engaging in a meaningful internship—all in a completely virtual online setting.

The Intensive Summer Multilanguage Seminar, developed by Professor Katrina Daly Thompson and led by Dr. Adeola Agoke, allows students engage in supported, self-directed language study.
A NEW PROGRAM FOR ADVANCED LANGUAGE LEARNERS & THE STUDY OF RARE LANGUAGES
The target audience for this new program includes students who are not well-served by a traditional summer language program for one of two reasons:
- Students who have achieved such an advanced language proficiency that traditional programs no longer serve their learning needs, or
- Students who are studying extremely rare languages that are otherwise not offered in the classroom

Postdoctoral Research Associate - Bridge to the Faculty (Sociocultural Anthropology), University of Illinois, Chicago, IL
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applicants for a “Bridge to the Faculty” postdoctoral research associate position in sociocultural anthropology beginning August 16, 2021.
Research Areas: We seek to hire an exceptional emerging scholar with broad and innovative theoretical interests in sociocultural anthropology that address contemporary global issues. We are particularly interested in anthropologists who work at the intersections of health, medicine and the environment; and race, politics and carceral geographies. We have a strong preference for regional expertise in the Caribbean/Latin America, Africa and its Diasporas.
Duties: Postdoctoral research associates are expected to teach one course per year and to maintain an active research program. This is a full-time position and includes a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job Opening: Full/Associate Professor, Historian of Slavery, Department of Africana Studies at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN
The Department of Africana Studies announces a search for a historian of slavery in the Western Hemisphere, beginning Fall 2021. The position will be either at the full or associate professor level with the tenure home in Africana Studies and a joint appointment in Notre Dame’s new center for the comparative study of race that will be launched later this year. We are especially interested in scholars who use a comparative and transnational approach to engage issues of movement of enslaved Africans and their descendants, the intersection of race and gender, resistance movements, religion and ritual, political and communal organization, cultural formation, and the complex relationship between slavery and freedom in North America, the Caribbean, and Latin America. In addition to being well-grounded in historical methodology, we expect candidates to have a deep investment in interdisciplinary discussions and collaboration
