RISS advances excellent research by funding activities typically ineligible for support from research grants, include grant matching for external grants requiring contributions, such as SSHRC's Connection Grants and Partnership Development Grants (PDGs), postdoctoral benefits, pre-conference planning, and fostering research collaboration. UBC Distinguished University Scholars: Call for Nominations
Deadline to submit nomination dossier to ORE for internal selection: Monday, February 1, 2020
The Distinguished University Scholar program recognizes faculty who have distinguished themselves as exceptional scholars. Up to 10 Distinguished University Scholars are conferred across UBC every two years. The Faculty of Education is permitted to submit two nominees for consideration. Faculty nomination dossiers must be submitted to the ORE for internal selection. The selection committee will be comprised of the Dean, the Senior Associate Dean, the Associate Dean for Research, and a current Distinguished University Scholar. Learn more or contact Robert Olaj

SSHRC Impact Awards
Internal University deadline date to be announced early in 2021.
Impact Awards recognize outstanding researchers in the social sciences and humanities. The awards celebrate research achievements, research training, knowledge mobilization, and outreach activities funded partially or entirely by SSHRC. CFI will announce a Call for Proposals for the next Innovation Fund (IF) 2022 competition in 2021. In anticipation, the Office of the VP Research and Innovation (VPRI) and Institutional Programs Office (IPO) have begun pre-competition planning. To maximize project development time and support for potential IF projects, please plan to attend the information sessions and test your concept sessions starting in January, 2021. SSHRC Connection Grants

CIHR Indigenous Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative Cohort Research Study (I-HeLTI)
Deadline to submit signed RPIF to ORE: Tuesday, June 1, 2021
CIHR has launched an Indigenous component of HeLTI. This opportunity will support the establishment of one I-HeLTI Intervention Cohort Research Study, and an I-HeLTI Collaborating Centre to support activities of the cohort research study. The total amount of funding available is $14,100,000, with funds going toward one 1-HeLTI Intervention Cohort Research Study and one I-HeLTI Collaborating Centre. CIHR Indigenous Gender and Wellness Team Grant
Deadline to register: Tuesday, June 22, 2021
This funding opportunity is the third and final phase of a larger initiative for Indigenous-led teams to implement ideas through research and action-oriented, community-based participatory projects. The goal of these projects is to improve wellness for Indigenous Peoples from a gendered perspective. A total of $7,000,000 is available to fund approximately fourteen grants. The Confederation of University Faculty Associations of British Columbia's (CUFA BC) three Distinguished Academic Awards, the Early in Career Award, the Ehor Boyanowsky Academic of the Year Award and the Paz Buttedahl Career Achievement Award recognize academic staff members of British Columbia's public research universities who have made outstanding contributions to the community beyond the academy through their academic work. Submissions will be accepted on a continuous intake basis
Canada's Digital Technology Supercluster is seeking to co-invest up to $30M in approximately five to seven big, impactful and ambitious projects in the following areas: health, climate change and environment, and digital transformation. SSHRC Insight Development Grants

Insight Development Grants provide $7,000 to $75,000 for one to two years to support short-term research in its initial stages. Projects can involve case studies, pilot initiatives, and critical analyses of existing research. Funds are available for two distinct categories: emerging scholars and established scholars. SSHRC Insight Development Grants: ORE Internal Review and Proposal Development Support
Open for criteria review between Monday, January 4th and Friday, January 22nd, 2021
Applicants are welcome to submit their proposals for a full SSHRC criteria review. Applicants may choose to include a full copy of their proposal in a Word document for review or they may indicate specific sections on which they would like to receive feedback.
