 December's Mantra:

I am showing love for myself by making my life softer and easier wherever I can.

Dear Loved Ones,

This year has been so damn hard.

Whenever life feels tough or chaotic, I try to ask myself, what can I do to make this easier on me?  When I answer that question, I usually find that there are a ton of things that I can immediately do or stop doing in order to make my experience a little softer.

Can you soften your life as we end this hell-ish year?

Ask yourself:

Is there anything you are doing in your life that is making things harder than they need to be?

Is there extra pressure you are putting on yourself to get more done than you absolutely have to?

Who are the people you are surrounding yourself with? Are you having unnecessary zooms or phone calls with people who bring you down or make you feel bad about yourself?

Could you be getting more sleep?

Could you be getting a little more time alone to process this past year?

If I have one piece of advice to end a year like this, it is to...

DO WHAT FEELS GOOD.

Wherever you can find the good stuff in your life, get it.

Watch your favorite movie.

Hang out (in some safe way!) with your favorite person.

Listen to your favorite songs.

Dance.

Eat your favorite pie.

Go on a walk at sundown.

If you are the one in your world who does it all, stop doing it all.

People will understand if their presents didn’t arrive on time this year or if there are none at all.

* and to all of the parents out there worried about disappointing your kids this year because Christmas during covid is so much more financially straining than other years…you should know that there were many Christmases in my childhood where there was no tree or presents because we couldn’t afford it. My happiest Christmas memories were always rooted in the quality time we spent together on that day, listening to r&b holiday music, eating eggs and grits, and watching old movies. They were not rooted in the gifts i received- in fact, I can barely remember any of the Christmas presents I did get during my childhood.

Your LOVE shows your kids that you love them, not the stuff you get them.

Wherever you can cut yourself a break, cut yourself a freakin break.

We have made it through one of the hardest years in human history.

That’s a lot!

Wind it down. Go inward. Be proud of yourself. Do what feels good.

You deserve it.

I love you,

Cleo

P.S. I made a print called The Best Thing About Your Life and it sold out in the first two days but we made a small batch for this community to make sure you didn't miss out. Link here to get yours in time to start 2021.
