2020: What a Year!
by Mike Kennamer
One thing is for certain, we will not soon forget the events of 2020. You don't need me to recap this year's events--you've lived through them too--so I'm going to take another approach. I'd like for us to reconsider our perspective.
Through the provision of resources, planning, and support to local churches, MNA Disaster Response provided comfort and grace to thousands who were impacted by tornadoes, hurricanes, and the pandemic itself. God was glorified. Jesus was made known to the lost.
Was 2020 a difficult year? Absolutely! But God's people showed His love through simple acts of grace and mercy. Cutting trees, mending roofs, building sheds...all important work. But the most important work we do is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. The work opens doors to conversations and relationships, and these relationships lead to sharing the hope that is within us.
Further, the work and relationships bolster the faith of those who serve. Those who serve are changed. We realize our own utter and audacious dependence on God through serving those who have lost so much, often leading us to surrender any illusion of control of our own destiny.
Maybe it wasn't such a bad year after all.
The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all. - Psalm 103:19 ESV
