Council Leader and Kingston's teenagers urge residents to keep safe this Christmas

Kingston has seen a dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases in the 0-15 age group in recent weeks. Councillor Caroline Kerr and teenagers across Kingston urge residents to continue to follow the restrictions in place to help protect our loved ones this Christmas.

The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine

The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective, and provides the best protection against Coronavirus. The NHS is currently offering the vaccine to people most at risk from the illness:
  • Some people aged 80 and over who already have a hospital appointment booked in the coming weeks
  • People who live or work in care homes
  • Health care workers at high risk

The vaccine will be offered more widely as soon as possible.

Please wait for the NHS to contact you to let you know when it’s your turn to have the vaccine.

COVID-19 hotspots in Kingston

We have identified a number of areas in the borough where more people are now catching the virus - Motspur Park, Chessington North, Tolworth and Berrylands.

As a local resident you have an important part to play in preventing the spread of COVID-19. If you experience any COVID-19 symptoms - a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste - please book a test as soon as possible, by visiting: nhs.uk/coronavirus or calling 119.

Once you have been tested, it is crucial that you and your household follow self-isolation guidelines while you wait for your test results.

Anyone who is not complying can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of £1,000 up to £10,000 for persistent non-compliance.

For support during self-isolation (such as help with shopping or medicine delivery), please call 0208 547 5000 or go to www.kingston.gov.uk/Covid19-needhelp.
