As this year comes to a close, we wanted to say “thank you.” We are so grateful to be a part of your learning journey. It’s been a year of unforeseen obstacles for all of us and our families. We’ve admired your tenacity to keep your training centers active in a digital space and to keep the focus on your members, ensuring their health and safety, in preparation for a new year.

The pandemic challenged traditional learning held at training centers and resulted in several cancellations and closures. But it also turned the spotlight on trainers to find innovative ways to deliver training.

To help transition to virtual learning and introduce new teaching strategies, the iFTI offered Zoom workshops, online train-the-trainer classes, and monthly DOT sessions. A plethora of distance learning resources were provided and included the development and release of the iFTI Instructor Lounge which provides a virtual platform for collaboration and sharing of instructor ideas, teaching strategies and resources, as well as trending topics for discussion.

While we couldn’t solve every challenge 2020 threw our collective way, we’ve worked hard to assist you with the resources we have. The iFTI LMS proved to be an invaluable resource  given its ability to provide online learning and training resources to address the educational needs of our District Councils including the Coronavirus Awareness courses, videos, links and webinars. This year, the iFTI updated more than 451 courses and added 141 new courses in the LMS.

Additionally, the iFTI Curriculum Task Force was formed in late summer, with representatives from each region and trade, to identify any skill gaps in the education of our members and to recommend new content and instructional strategies to elevate our members to a higher standard of safety and performance.

We’re also excited to release LMS 2.0 in 2021 with the following enhancements.

  • Enhanced Communications through the Message Center, Discussion Feed, and My Communities
  • Better way to present enrollments using the My Learning Path
  • Improved Navigation Features using My Dashboard and the widgets
  • Increased filtering capabilities of Enrollments, Catalog and Documents
  • Introduced ILT Management for online classes and tasks
We look forward to seeing you again, when the pandemic restrictions lift, and you are able to travel to the International Training Center in Hanover, MD. You will see firsthand, the new additions to the lobby of the training center. We proudly boast our Mission, COE affiliation and logos throughout the lobby.

Keep an eye on our announcements and the iFTI LMS Alerts section.
