Where do we find possibilities to continue to live with our earth in the future? In the LAND project we talk about climate breakdown, ownership and co-existence. Check out this newsletter with an essay and interview about the importance of going beyond science and its verbal abstractions, about becoming sensually absorbed and feeling one with your surroundings, and about the importance of non-Western wisdom and traditions in this. As artist Jasper Griepink says: ‘There are people on this granite heap of lava who have lived for millennia. What they see and hear and have to tell may be important as we move towards a global climate break-down.’ Want to learn and know more? Visit our online event on December 16th!
16 DECEMBER: ONLINE LUNCH EVENT
In 2019/2020 Krista Jantowski (WALTER books) curated a series of evening film screenings for us, accompanied by talks and interviews, entitled Precarious Nights. It was a start, to address the widely experienced insecurities of young art workers in relation to paid work and working conditions in the context of economic injustice, social inequality and political or institutional unaccountability. Needless to say, the pandemic has since exacerbated labour conditions. To continue the conversation, Krista has turned the Precarious Nights into Precarious Days.
Enjoy Part 1 here in which she thinks through the terms ‘precarious’ and ‘precarity’ and how the two interlink and where the differences between them can become productive.
Please feel invited to contribute to this growing dossier! Krista is curious to hear your own experiences, thoughts and references and hopes that we can approach this as an opportunity to articulate our positions and forge links of solidarity. Please email her at hopethisfindsyouwell@walterinarnhem.nl.
