Funds

An Act of Kindness at Christmas RCT: micro-grants

Deadline for requests: 18/12/20.
Following our recent ‘Act of Kindness at Christmas’ network event, we have been inspired by our members’ exciting Christmas plans. These include those of Lee Gardens Pool, Pontypridd Coronavirus COVID-19 Group, Tonyrefail Community Network and Spectacle Theatre. 

We want to support and promote all your amazing ‘acts of kindness’ over Christmas, so please let us know if we can help! Any local group can apply by emailing grants@interlinkrct.org.uk for a £250 grant to help with any Christmas related activities. This could include food and meals, gifts and volunteer expenses.

All we need from you is to share what you are doing with us and others on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #KindnessRCT. Or, you can email us with the details and we can post something for you.

The Didymus Charity

Didymus is a small, grant-making charity. It promotes:
  • social inclusion 
  • education 
  • the arts 
  • equality and diversity 
  • religious understanding 

RCT Food Support Fund

The Food Support Fund can support your organisation with food costs, and other non-staffing costs that help get food to RCT residents. Grants of up to £500 are available. Apply and see more details on RCTCBC’s website.

Childs Charitable Trust

This trust strategically grant-funds Christian organisations. Learn more on the Childs Charitable Trust’s website.

Scops Arts Trust

This trust makes funding available to contribute towards the positive impact which the arts makes on people's lives. Learn more on the Scops Arts Trust’s website.

Aviva Community Fund

Deadline: 19/01/21.
Applications are now open for the next round of the Aviva Community Fund. Grants of up to £50k are available to support projects that boost communities’ resilience in the face of uncertainty. Learn more on the Aviva Community Fund website.

Children in Need, Funding Briefing Session

Date: 2pm to 3pm 10/12/21.
Children in Need opened up its main and small grants programmes in November, and will be holding a funding briefing session for potential applicants on Thursday. Learn more on the Third Sector Support Wales website.

 

COVID-19

Vaccine and coronavirus updates

As we enter the vaccine phase, Public Health Wales have provided this landing page for information about immunisation. Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board also have this quick information page, and you can download Welsh Government social media assets about vaccination here. Also download Welsh Government videos and imagery about rules following the firebreak here.

In addition, the isolation period is reducing from 14 to 10 days. The Test, Track and Protect assets here have been updated to reflect this.

 

Events

Tempo Time Credits

Date: 17/12/20.
These time credits reward volunteering with activities like gym sessions, cinema viewings and trips to visitor attractions. They are now being rolled out across Wales to tackle poverty in communities and mobilise social action. Learn more and book on TVA’s Eventbrite page.
 

Free event about preventing long-term sickness at work

Date: 10 to 11.30am 15/12/20
RCS will be showcasing a new In Work Support Service for people living and working in Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Newport and Vale of Glamorgan. The service provides early intervention support to prevent long-term sickness absence from work. This includes free, rapid access to therapies to address mild to moderate health issues such as low mood, anxiety or musculoskeletal conditions. Learn more on RCS’s Eventbrite page.

Interlink RCT Autumn Newsletter

Our newsletter gives an update on our work across funding, governance, volunteering and wellbeing. As it covers the pandemic period, it gives some insight into how groups have dealt with the crisis. Share your pandemic experiences

We need you! Could you share your experiences with other likeminded groups about how you successfully opened and ran services during the pandemic? Could you tell others how you managed volunteers and kept them safe?

We would like to host a peer to peer network session in January and we’re looking for groups from the Rhondda Valley, Cynon, and Taff Vale to share their stories. Could it be you? £500 payment scheme now open to parents and carers of children required to self-isolate

The scheme provides financial support to people on low incomes or facing financial hardship when asked to self-isolate. Learn more about the payment scheme on the Welsh Government website.
 

State aid rules to change following Brexit

The WCVA have compiled a list of resources so you can understand how the state aid rules will change after Brexit. They include information from 3-SET and Welsh Government. Learn more on the WCVA’s website.
 

Your Town, Your Future Survey

To help regeneration, Audit Wales is reviewing the future of Welsh towns. They want to collect ideas via a quick survey which should take 10 minutes maximum. You can tell them what your community most needs the most. Learn more about the survey in this leaflet, and complete the Audit Wales survey here.
 

Respond, recover, reset: the voluntary sector and COVID-19

Nottingham Trent University are making one of the largest of its kind research projects about the impact of the COVID-19 on the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. You can see the existing results on their barometer dashboard. Also, take part in their ongoing survey on the NTU landing page, with everyone who enters having the chance to win £200 each month or £2000 at the end of the project.
 
 

Governance

Regulatory action taken against former manager and trustee

Conflicts of interest were not properly addressed at the charity in this article. In fact, there was no conflicts of interest policy in place. Read more on the Charity Commission's website.
