Unfortunately we are seeing the number of Covid-19 cases continue to climb in our area. Therefore we will be moving worship entirely online for the remainder of the Advent and Christmas season.
In November the Session met to set an automatic cut-off so that if numbers continued to rise we would have clear guidance. We set that red-line at 10% percent positive tests in the Chesterfield health district, you can find that number and other statewide testing numbers here: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/coronavirus/covid-19-in-virginia-testing/
Honestly, 10% was a bit of a stretch of our comfort level, but we were holding hope that we might be able to worship together for Christmas! As you can see, we have now passed that benchmark, and so we will move worship entirely online for the foreseeable future, definitely through Christmas Eve. We will wait until that number returns below 10% for at least two weeks before considering a return to in-person services.
Thankfully, the staff has been planning for this possibility for some time! Kimberly has put together some wonderful music recordings for Lessons and Carols that I can't wait for you to hear on Dec 20th. Caitlyn has been hard at work creating a Christmas Pageant recorded entirely on Zoom-- and yes, Rose will make an appearance as baby Jesus!
Stay safe everyone!
Pastor Caitlin
