RSCDS London Branch eUpdate
9 December 2020

Dear fellow dancers

There is a distinct chill in the air, softened slightly by the ever increasing number of lights appearing each day on trees and buildings around us. Christmas is definitely on its way and ahead of that we have two important matters to bring to your attention.

The first is our Virtual Christmas Party which will take place from 5pm on Saturday 19th December. We have a great programme, courtesy of several talented and generous London Branch musicians, plus some spoken items, a Christmas quiz and more.  It's not too late to enter the Christmas craft competitions and all photos sent in will be featured on the night - plus there are prizes to be won!  We will also have the Zoom chat function enabling guests to meet and mingle virtually.

Please do join us. All are welcome so spread the word and let's have a joyful celebration of Scottish Country Dance, albeit minus much in the way of dancing. We can hope for better times to come in 2021.

Our second item of note is the London Branch Survey.  We are grateful to everyone who has completed the survey already, either by completing the paper copy on the Reel address sheet or via the link on the Branch website.  Thank you for taking the time, your input and your comments are invaluable. If you have not yet had chance to look at the survey you can do so via this link which will stay live until 31 December 2020.  The survey is open to everyone, London Branch members and non members alike. Your views are important and never more so than in this time of great change. We will share the findings from the survey early in the New Year.

Best wishes to all
More than ever, we look forward to dancing together again soon.

RSCDS Dance Scottish at Home.
Since the last eUpdate there has been one Dance Scottish at Home newsletter and 2 classes.

The class on Wednesday 25 November was taken by Geoffrey Selling in Philadelphia, ably assisted by his wife Cecily. Starting with a ceilidh warm up the class featured both reel and strathspey walkthroughs including Kelvingrove Two Step, Johnny Groat's House and Lady Susan Montgomery.

On 2 December the class was taken by Helen Russell in Yorkshire, supported by her husband, Ian.  Helen covered strathspey step movement skills within the dance Glasgow Lasses form RSCDS Book 34.

We'll bring the link for this evening's class to you in our next eUpdate, or you can view on the RSCDS website via this link.

Meanwhile, next week's class will again be at 19:00 BST via this link.  Please remember that, as Zoom has changed its security advice, there is now a Passcode for the class. Passcode: 249430.

Grateful thanks to all teachers, musicians, technicians and organisers involved in the delivery of these classes.
