K2....The Savage Mountain.....It's the last of the 8000m peaks to have never been summited in winter. The 2nd highest mountain in the world, K2 is 28,251'/8611m, only 750 feet lower than the more infamous Mt. Everest.

In late December 2020, I will be heading to Pakistan with my climbing partner Colin O'Brady as part of a multinational team attempting an historic first: to summit K2 in the winter. It's a daunting challenge as the mountain is extremely cold, snowy, and windy in the winter. How cold? The mountain forecast for tomorrow (as of this writing) is a wind chill below-100 degrees F on the summit!

Why Am I Doing This?
Climbing K2 has been on my list of big goals for awhile, and this fall I was asked to be part of a world class team trying to finally put a human on top of K2 in the winter. It was hard to say no. As an American Climber with Polish heritage, I feel honored to be able to somewhat pay tribute to the amazing strength and history of what the "Ice Warriors" from the Polish 8000m community have done on the world's highest mountains in the Winter season over the years. I'm proud to honor this lineage and help move the torch upwards!

The timing of this is perfect as I have been thinking of ways I can help my Sherpa friends who are struggling so much during the pandemic. With this expedition, my team will help by employing as many Sherpas, local Balti porters, and HAPS (High Altitude Porters), who have all struggled to find work during the pandemic, as we can.

How You Can Get Involved
I'd like to pay the Sherpas and porters extra to make up for some of their lost income from 2020 and help out their families and communities. Here's how you can get involved. Through my non-profit, the N.O.D. Everest Foundation, I have set up a fundraiser called Benefit the Sherpas and HAPs Through Historic K2 Winter Climb.

Every dollar you donate will directly help, plus you could win a FREE guided trek to Everest Base Camp  in April 2021 and other great prizes!

Raffle Prizes
For every $50 you donate, you get 1 Raffle Ticket.  For every $250 you donate, you get 5 bonus Raffle Tickets (so you would get 10 tickets, 5 for each $50 + 5 bonus tickets.

I will draw the winning tickets on or before March 1, 2021 (I will announce the official day once I return from Pakistan).
