WE MADE IT !   THANK YOU!
We couldn't have done it without YOUR SUPPORT !
It has been a really difficult year but also a year with much to be thankful for.

In spite of all the anxiety, fear and uncertainty, Goedgedacht and Help the Rural Child (HTRC) experienced nothing short of divine intervention by managing to survive.

Goedgedacht  jumped right into it by setting up a field hospital in case of an upsurge in COVID 19 cases and more importantly organizing much needed home cooked meals for the surrounding communities. Their hard work and dedication has truly been impressive.

Our Help the Rural Child Charity Shops opened up in May and June and have gone from strength to strength because of the wonderful support of our donors and customers. Our shop staff and drivers  who have been on the frontline of this unforgiving battlefield, have shown great courage as they tirelessly made sure that the shops stayed well stocked and open at all times. We even managed to start a children’s online bookshop during Covid19! The sterling work done by our Mobile Bookshop staff has greatly enhanced the potential of this new venture.

Your generosity during this exceptionally traumatic time has not only kept Help The Rural Child afloat, but more importantly those whom we serve: vulnerable rural children. It is therefore with heartfelt thanks that we wish you and your family many blessings over the Festive Season and a hope that 2021 will be a year of peace and continued awareness of the importance of the common good.

Take care and stay safe. We're not out of the woods yet!

RELOCATION AFRICA
MONTHLY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY BOOK DRIVE

"As part of our constant drive at Relocation Africa to give back to our community, our team has endeavoured to join together to participate in a monthly community-focused CSR initiative.

The team comes together each month to participate in an activity aimed at uplifting the community around our head office in Cape Town, after which ideas are put forward for the following month’s initiative. In this way, as South Africans, we are giving back not only on Mandela Day, but throughout the year, as the need doesn’t end after the holiday.

For our third month, in November 2020, we came together to collect books, with the theme of ‘Literature & Education are Vital’. We invited our neighbors to join us in collecting books they no longer needed, and dropping them off at our office’s reception. We then handed them over to Help The Rural Child."

Thank you, Quintin and team for your creative way of supporting us. If anyone out there wants to take up the challenge, we will be delighted to hear from you!

DIRECTOR OF GOEDGEDACHT TRUST

What a baptism of fire this year has been!  But, like you, I could never have imagined that the COVID-19 pandemic would follow in March, requiring dramatic changes. We partnered with the Swartland Municipality, the Swartland Hospital, and the wonderful volunteers from each community.  We transformed our six POP-o feeding stations and provided more than 600 000 meals to date. With the new season, we seek to strengthen these relationships by continuing our Asset-Based Community Development approach. As the pandemic recedes, we look forward to listening to the aspirations of community members, to dream with them and together pave the way towards creating thriving rural communities where children come first. By working in this way, Goedgedacht will continue on its quest to transform rural communities into thriving, self-sustainable communities, putting children first.
