President’s Letter
This has certainly not been the easiest year, and as we wrap up 2020, unfortunately, the Treasure Coast chapter has some sad news to share. Many of our members worked with and grew to love Adrienne Moore over the years. . She was a founding member of this chapter and was also a superstar at the state level of FPRA.
This week, we learned that Adrienne passed away on December 7. We know Adrienne was usually the first person to greet new members with a big smile to our chapter and touched so many lives.
If you desire, please leave your condolences at this link: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/stuart-fl/mary-moore-9933124.
Adrienne Moore, APR, CPRC,  founding member of FPRA Treasure Coast

A resident of the Treasure Coast since 1957, Adrienne Moore lived and worked in Martin and St. Lucie Counties. She attended St. Anastasia School in Fort Pierce and Barry College in Miami with a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Journalism. She also worked toward a master’s degree in Journalism at Michigan State University.

Adrienne spent nearly 20 years as a news reporter in print, radio and television, with her last position as the first Treasure Coast reporter for WPTV, Channel 5. She left the TV station for a public relations position at Indian River State College. She served as the public relations/development specialist at public radio station WQCS/ 88.9 FM for 25 years and retired in 2007.

She was an accredited public relations professional (APR) and a certified public relations counselor  (CPRC) and was a member of the Treasure Coast chapter for 29 of its 30 years.  She served four terms as chapter president and served on several committees. She also served as State President and as the Florida Public Relations Education Foundation Chair, among other state positions.

She also was a member for the Environmental Studies Council in Jensen Beach, serving four years as president and five years as secretary. The Council provides funding for the Environmental Studies Center, offering environmental education for the students of the Martin County School District. She volunteered for five years at Molly’s House as a weekend manager and served for 10 years on the Zora Neale Hurston committee in Fort Pierce.  She was a founding member of Women Supporting the Arts for five years. She also served as a volunteer at the Kennedy Space Center for the NASA Public Affairs Department for 11 years.
Fortunately, the chapter a few months ago, was able to deliver her award after she was named a Life Member of FPRA for her 35 years of service to the organization. She was thrilled at the recognition. I know several members of our chapter would like to work with the state on ways to honor memorialize and honor Adrienne’s memory.

When we have more information, we’ll be sure to share it.
With just a few weeks left in 2020, please stay safe and we look forward to a new year!
