COVID Hotline
Remember to practise social distancing, follow hygiene rules, and get tested at the very first sign of sickness. COVID HOTLINE – 1800 253 787.

COVID-19 Pandemic
Due to the changing landscape on restrictions please refer to current information and daily updates: www.covid-19.sa.gov.au

If someone in South Australia tests positive to COVID-19, the COVID SAfe Check-In enables SA Health to quickly contact others who may have been exposed to the virus and stop the spread of COVID-19.

Face Masks

Face masks are an additional physical barrier and help to stop the spread of COVID-19. SA Health are recommending the general community wear face masks when out in public if people are unable to physically distance. SA Health has worked with Detmold Medical to develop easy easily distributed packs of masks for members of the community to help them comply with this recommendation.

Face masks are available to the community and can be collected from the Council Offices in Burra and Eudunda.

QR Code tracking

QR code tracing has commenced – the COVID-safe check-in will be accessible through the free mySA GOV app. The data will only be available by SA Health for official contact tracing purposes and will be accessible for 28 days. A paper recording log will be available to businesses as a back-up if patrons do not have a mobile phone. You must use COVID-safe check-in at: supermarkets, department stores, hardware stores & general retail stores.

Clean Up Australia Day

Office for Ageing Well

The Office for Ageing Well is committed to assisting community members find appropriate sources of information and advice if they have concerns about their situation or the way someone they know is being treated.  In collaboration with a range of partners, they have developed a poster to assist members of the public to know who to call to raise concerns about disability, aged care or health care services, or about adults living in the community who may be vulnerable to abuse.

Adult Safe Guarding Unit to Work with Adults Living with Disability

From 1 October 2020, South Australia’s Adult Safeguarding Unit (ASU) can respond to reports of abuse of adults living with a disability who are at risk of abuse.

This is in addition to its legal remit to support South Australians aged 65 years and older, and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders aged 50 years and older.

The ASU, located in Office for Ageing Well, provides a much needed place where anyone can report actual or suspected abuse or neglect of adults who, through age or disability, may be at risk of abuse.

The disability can be intellectual, psychiatric, cognitive, neurological, sensory or physical impairment, or a combination.

The disability must be, or be likely to be, permanent.

The disability must both reduce the person’s capacity for social interaction, communication, learning, mobility, decision-making or self-care, and necessitate continuing support services.

People with a disability that is of an episodic nature are also covered.

If you suspect you or someone you know is at risk of or is being abused, you can seek advice or make a report to the Adult Safeguarding Unit by calling the South Australian Abuse Prevention Phone Line on 1800 372 310, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Don't Ignore Shocks or Tingles...Call SA Power Networks

Have you ever experienced a shock or tingling sensation while touching a kitchen or bathroom tap or an appliance like a kettle or toaster?

It could be a sign that a property’s electrical system has a damaged earth connection, causing issues in the electricity supply and resulting in metal objects such as pipes, taps and appliances to become live with very low-level electricity. Left unattended, it may become a serious issue.

If you experience any issues you should:

  1. Immediately let us know on 13 13 66, available 24/7
  2. Don’t touch the appliance, or location again, until confirmed as safe
  3. A crew will attend to conduct a free inspection to determine if it is a problem with our network connection, or whether it is on the consumer side
  4. To ensure ongoing safety, we may temporarily disconnect the power
  5. Depending on the cause, we’ll either fix the issue, or let you know if you need to arrange your own electrician.

The bottom line is simple. If you get any shocks or tingles at your property, don’t hesitate - give us an immediate call.

We are currently distributing flyers, sending SMS, and targeting social media posts to customers in a few potential ‘hot spots’ to remind South Australians of the potential dangers, and of the importance of letting us know when something is wrong. You can report faults to us even if you don’t personally get one of these messages.

Follow these handy tips to ensure the safety of yourself and others around your home or workplace: safety around your property

Northern & Yorke Landscape Board

The Northern and Yorke Landscape Board is asking for assistance to help track down a highly invasive aquatic weed that was sold on Facebook Marketplace by a Gawler-based seller this week.

A member of the public alerted the Board about the listing that advertised Water Hyacinth “for the fish pond”, with the item now registered as ‘Out of Stock’ on the social media platform.

Water Hyacinth is recognised as one of the world’s worst aquatic weeds as it can quickly choke waterways, outcompete native water plants and cause dam water to stagnate.

The following outlines the funding requirements for the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program (CRSFP), Grassroots Facilities Program (GFP), and Regional and Districts Facilities Program (RDFP).

To support the implementation of the State Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Plan the Government has committed $35 million toward the establishment of the $10 million RDFP and the $25 million GFP - these budgets are to be split over 2020-21 and 2021-22.

This new funding combined with existing program budgets will result in $44 million being available for infrastructure grants over the next two financial years.

Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program (CRSFP)
The objective of CRSFP is to provide access to funding for the development of sustainable, functional, inclusive and fit-for-purpose active recreation and sport facilities that meet the current and future needs of the South Australian community. CRSFP will assist eligible organisations to develop infrastructure that directly addresses demonstrated need and supports participation through the rational development of good quality projects.

Grassroots Facilities Program (GFP)
The objective of GFP is to increase sport participation and improve gender equality to support healthier, happier and safer communities. GFP will assist eligible organisations to develop core infrastructure that directly impacts participation through the rational development of good quality, well designed and utilised facilities.

Regional and Districts Facilities Program (RDFP)
The objective of RDFP is to create regionally significant sport and active recreation precincts (sport and active recreation hubs) that meet the current and future needs of the South Australian community. RDFP will assist eligible organisations to develop infrastructure that is strategically justified through the rational development of good quality projects.
