Werriwa eNewsletter

11 December 2020

Dear <<First Name>>

Welcome to the latest edition of the Werriwa eNewsletter.

This week was the last sitting week of Federal Parliament for the year. The Government spent the majority of the week trying to push through Legislation through that will hurt ordinary Australians.

The Morrison Government wants to make it easier for bosses to cut the pay of front-line workers. This is how the Government wants to treat the cleaners, supermarket workers, truck drivers, childcare and aged care workers who kept us going through the pandemic. This is a nasty scheme that fails to create new jobs and I will fight it.

COVID-19 has again been detected in the local sewage treatment plant that services many suburbs in Werriwa. The virus still appears to be spreading in the community and we must continue to be cautious and get tested when we have symptoms.

Have a good weekend, stay safe and remember Christmas is just around the corner!

Kind Regards

Anne

Under-Funding and Lack of Planning in South-West Sydney

Last week I spoke in Federal Parliament about the under-funding and lack of planning in Werriwa.

The lift at Macqauire Fields Station and no sign of construction commencing for a public school in Edmondson Park. These are just two examples of the neglect shown to South-West Sydney by State and Federal Governments.

The people of Werriwa deserve their fair share.

Cambridge Avenue - Have Your Say

Transport for NSW is encouraging members of the community and road users to have their say on a recommended design to upgrade and extend Cambridge Avenue at Glenfield.

The recommended design to upgrade Cambridge Avenue improves access between Moorebank Logistics Park and the Hume Motorway. The recommended design is on display and Transport for NSW is inviting the community to provide feedback on the proposed design by 15 February 2021.

Transport for NSW will host online information session on the NSW Roads Facebook page on 16 December 2020 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm to provide the community with an opportunity to ask questions and find out more information about this project.

Click here to review the design and provide feedback.

COVID-19 Update

Train ‒ testing and self-isolation advice

A passenger travelling on the train between Minto and Central Station in late November has tested positive for COVID-19. If you travelled in the carriage on a service listed here, you are considered a close contact. You should get tested immediately and self-isolate for 14 days, even if you receive a negative test result.

If you travelled on one of the services but you were not in the carriage listed, you are considered a casual contact. You should get tested and self-isolate until you receive a negative test result.

COVID-19 Sewage Detection Program

Traces of COVID-19 have once again been detected in sewerage treatment plants. The area served by the treatment plant includes the following suburbs in Werriwa: Bardia, Hinchinbrook, Hoxton Park, Ingleburn, Prestons, Edmondson Park, Austral, Cecil Hills, Elizabeth Hills, Bonnyrigg Heights, Green Valley, Casula, Miller, Cartwright, Lurnea, Macquarie Links, Glenfield, Leppington, West Hoxton, Horningsea Park, Middleton Grange, Len Waters Estate, Carnes Hill, Denham Court.

If you live in any of these areas you should monitor for symptoms. If you have even the mildest of symptoms (even if it appears to be a cold), get tested and self-isolate immediately. Symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, tiredness, fever or other symptoms could be COVID-19.

Christmas On Q – Pop Up Markets

Thursday, 17 December, is the last day of the Christmas on Q pop-up markets in Campbelltown. The market provides a great place to do some last minute Christmas shopping.

Experience the handmade delights of local artisans in a specially created, landscape space within the Queen Street precinct with some Christmas On Q street markets.

Christmas on Q will be held on the corner of Lithgow Street and Anzac Lane for a few hours from 11:00am - 2:00pm.

Click here for more information and what stalls will be open on the day.

This Week in Parliament

There were many great speeches in Parliament this week. Below are two of my favourites.

Anthony Albanese

The Leader of the Labor Party Anthony Albanese spoke about the cruel pay-cut the Liberals want to inflict on front-line workers.

Chris Bowen

Chris tabled petitions from residents of Cecil Park and Horsley Park in the House of Representatives in response to the ridiculous planning failures of the Berejiklian State Government.
