The COVID-19 pandemic continues its stranglehold on our arts sector. Since the first U.S. case was reported on January 20, 2020, cancellations and closings have taken place at nearly every arts organization across the Black Hills, and nearly two-thirds of our community’s artists are now unemployed. Organizations we support, derive the majority of their income from live shows, a profession that is very hard to translate to the "work from home" environment. This means many organizations, as well as their crew members, will be out of reliable work indefinitely.
New research by the Small Business Administration shows that “Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation” is now the sector of the economy with highest percentage of “temporary closings” (53.3 percent of businesses surveyed).
Your support during this challenging time is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
The Allied Arts Fund ensures dynamic, sustainable, cultural opportunities by enriching our Communities through the advancement of the Arts.
