Reflections of the Campus Minister
Greetings from Ambassadors for Christ! As our semester is coming to a close I have been focusing on all of the blessings to be thankful for during this very different semester.
- I am thankful for my fantastic student leaders. They have been flexible as rules changed (sometimes weekly). They have creatively changed up our events to meet suggestions for social distancing and being careful.
- I am thankful for our students who have joined us on zoom, at parks (in the dark), and on campus. They have invited their friends and read their bibles by flashlights sometimes in order to study the book of Daniel. They came to small groups, and enjoyed time with one another. They have shared each other burdens, often helping one another with food or laundry or a ride and a smile or fist bump when things were rough.
- I am thankful for our board of directors who have worked to make sure we have wise counsel, enough funds and solid plans. I am thankful for board members who have hosted events in their own backyards allowing us large outdoor spaces to meet.
- I am thankful for alumni who have dropped off fire pits, and a wonderful alumni family who donated a chimenea for our outdoor events.
- I am thankful for a retreat speaker who was super flexible as our requirements were changing up until the week he flew in for our retreat. I am thankful for his messages and lessons during our time together and his continued encouragement for our work.
- I am incredibly thankful for you, our alumni, supporters, and friends. Your support of our work and encouragement has been so helpful during our semester. I am thankful to those of you who stepped up and helped us with computers and other needs as we transitioned to online. I am also thankful for those who have adopted our students, offered support, or just jumped in to help. I have enjoyed getting to talk to many of you who have called or messaged to ask about how we are doing. I look forward to catching up with more of you as time permits.
God has blessed us immensely during this time of continual transition and he has brought our group closer to Him as well as closer to one another. Together we have helped several students seek treatment for some important and heavy issues in their lives. I truly believe that once we have made it to the other side of this storm, we will be a stronger and healthier community.
In Him,
Jessica Knapp
Associate Campus Minister,

Fall Retreat in a time of COVID
After much discussion with camp officials, campus officials and student leaders we came up with a plan to host a fall retreat COVID style, with social distancing and precautions included. We were incredibly blessed by our speaker, Lars Coburn who brought us messages from his book Follow the Way. We focused on how to love one another through developing the skills of listening, being and seeing.
The students had the opportunity to hike and enjoy God's glory. They had a chance to do some homework and spend time together. There was a lot of laughter and great conversations about developing habits and virtues to grow closer to God.

Friday Night Fun!!
Our Friday night events have been online games on zoom, hiking up Tumamoc Hill, a scavenger hunt on campus (in Halloween costumes), a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and a Christmas dinner around a fire with a fun wacky sock exchange. Our students continue to find creative ways to be together while still being as safe as they can. We are looking forward to more friday night fun during the spring semester.
