December 2020

Facebook FlickrYouTube Twitter

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Partners,

What a year 2020 has been! On the plus side, radio has proven again its resilience and consolidated its central place in many people’s lives in its 100th anniversary year. DRM, not immune to the unprecedented 2020, has proven more than ever that it is the digital communication platform for our times and for all.

2020 has been an incredibly good year for DRM despite and, in part, because of the pandemic.  In all these activities some of our key members have gone well beyond the call of duty and for their essential support and passion I salute them!

We have compiled an E-book of the key activities that has made 2020 a vibrant year for DRM, in these challenging times.

In the next year we want to see masses of DRM and multi-standard receivers and receiver solutions at affordable prices in the DRM countries. We would like to engage deeper with the automotive industry, to extend the presentation, adoption and use of DRM for audio but also data in new territories from US to Papua New Guinea, and from Indonesia to Latin America, Africa and Australia.

At the end of this challenging year, we want to recognise one such DRM enthusiastic individual for being in effect a one-man DRM marketing machine and give him a special award. It is Dr Thamminana Krushna Rao of Andhra Pradesh, India. Congratulations!

Let us hope that 2021 will be a better year than 2020!

Digital Radio DRM, Stronger than Ever, Looks with Confidence to 2021

In 2020 the value of the only global, open, all band digital audio broadcasting system, DRM, was conveyed to more people, further afield, than ever before. Old and new stakeholders and enthusiasts were the audience in the 2020 virtual conference rooms where a “show and tell” approach demonstrated DRM’s services and advantages in both AM and FM bands.

To celebrate the unique and relevant place of radio in people’s lives and the progress made by Digital Radio Mondiale in this unprecedented year, we have created our first ever DRM e-book. Its aim is to give you a succinct overview of the best DRM events, activities and successes in 2020, while offering you a varied and wide digest of information, opinions and updates on DRM and digital radio.
