UpToDate: Pathways
UpToDate Pathways is an interactive algorithms to streamline your decision making when addressing common medical conditions that have multiple management, diagnoses or treatment options.
Here are the first few steps to view and explore UpToDate Pathways:
- Access UpToDate via Health Sciences Databases
- Enter a keyword or phrase (See the image above)
- Available UpToDate Pathways appear in the “Quick Access Panel” on the right of search results
- Click on the title to view the scope, required test and exclusions
- Navigate individual pathways using the dynamic algorithm on the left or answering questions on the right panel

UpToDate Lab Interpretation
Lab Interpretation includes monographs and algorithm charts that provide recommendations and interpretations to more quickly and accurately interpret and decide on next steps, especially for lab results out of the normal range.
Here are the first few steps to view and explore UpToDate Lab Interpretation:
- Access UpToDate via Health Sciences Databases
- Enter a keyword or phrase (See the image above)
- Click on the title to open a quick view of the Lab Interpretation algorithm
- If a Lab Interpretation monograph is available for your search, it will appear in the “Quick Access Panel”
- Additional tables and graphics appear on the right side of the monograph
- Using the static algorithm, quickly determine what the abnormal test results mean, what factors impact the results and what to do next

COVID-19 Terminology by National Library of Medicine
Starting in January 2020, new terms related to the 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and the resulting disease (COVID-19) were added to the MeSH vocabulary.

Ovid Term Finder
Ovid Advanced Search feature "Term Finder", helps you access key information as you construct your search without having to leave the Advanced Search page.
Key features in Term Finder include:
- Mapped MeSH Results
- Interactive MeSH browser
- Definitions from Stedman’s Medical Dictionary
- Results from MeSH Permuted Index
- Related Terms from the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS)
- Add to search functionality

Library Services Spring 2021
Here is a current list of services available to NYITCOM Students and Faculty.
- Meet with a Librarian virtually - Schedule a meeting with a medical librarian for your research and course needs via Zoom or phone.
- Live Chat with a medical librarian in real time regarding your library needs (Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)
- Online renewals - Books can be renewed online.
- Grab & Go - Books can be checked out during the hours the library is open.
- Interlibrary Loan - Request articles and books that are not available via medical library electronic or on-site resources.
- Reserve a Study Room - Reservation are available for up to 10 seats per day which can be reserved online.
- Book drop is located outside of library.
