Linux Foundation Public Health Now Hosts CCI

What could be a better holiday and new year gift to our community than a home? In this last edition of our newsletter in 2020, we are exhilarated to share with you that CCI is officially a part of Linux Foundation Public Health (LFPH).

Here are some important milestones you don’t want to miss:

“LFPH is a natural home for CCI. There is strong alignment on the most urgent matters to address, such as interoperability, privacy and ethics as they related to vaccine credentials. Most importantly, LFPH strives to respect the community-driven and open nature of CCI, which is essential to true collaboration and wide adoption. We look forward to working with LFPH and stakeholders across communities, sectors and industries, especially public health authorities, on vaccine credentials for COVID-19 and other public health credentials," said our co-lead Lucy Yang in the news release.

With the resources and support from LFPH, we are one step closer to realizing our vision. This is an achievement from a truly collaborative effort that would have not been possible without the consistently good work and spirit of the entire CCI community. As LFPH reiterated in the Intro and Q&A Session, CCI will remain an open community that any individual and organization can participate in and is driven by community leaders and participants.

Moving forward, Lucy Yang, John Walker and Kaliya Young, commissioned by LFPH, will be working with the CCI Community Guidance Team and LFPH staff on migration details and new year plans. The community will be kept in the loop for updates and feedback.

One thing you can do now is to join LFPH’s slack and there is a #cci channel.

Lastly, we wish you a wonderful holiday and a happy new year. 2020 has been tough, but we made it through!

CCI Workstream Updates

Use Case Implementation

The CCI Use Case Implementation group had its 22th meeting on December 8, 2020. One use case implementation was presented to the group.

Eve Maler, CTO of ForgeRock, presented their solution for User-Managed Access (UMA) for the sharing and delegating access to health-related data. The solution is based on a Kantara Initiative standard, which enables “Alice” to grant and deny specific data access for “Bob” at a data-sharing hub, including semantics that provide fine-grain control of the who/what/how.

Due to changes in his work arrangements, Oskar van Deventer (TNO) resigned as CCI-WS#1 convener/co-chair. Paul Knowles (Human Colossus Foundation) will take over in the new year. We would like to thank Oskar for his excellent leadership during these past several months. He played a tremendous role in the current success of CCI, and we thank him for his dedicated efforts.

The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, January 12, 10:00-11:00 am ET / 16:00-17:00 CEST. The agenda includes two more demonstrations. Links to the recordings of all CCI demos are available in the demo overview list.

Rules & Governance

The CCI Governance Framework Task Force continues to work on making CCI's Governance Framework readily available through the Trust over IP Foundation as a deliverable. Marketing and outreach campaigns are being planned with guidance from the Coordination & Communications team at CCI.

Coordination & Communications

We will pause CCI's Community Newsletter in the upcoming weeks and come back in the new year (tentatively the second week of January). CCI Twitter account will be active during the holidays, and CCI Knowledge Base still welcomes your submissions.

This workstream will likely be existing in a new form after migrating into LFPH. We will be working with the community leadership and LFPH staff to figure out what would be the best arrangements.
