To All AAR Members:
This will be the last communication for 2020 so the KGB Committee wants to thank all of you for your dedication in trying to keep the county roads as clean as possible.
Although there was a standing order from the county not to pick up litter, for the concern of safety of our citizens and preservation of PPE equipment, we will had at least 19 folks/groups/POA’s/individuals keep their roads clean (while being safe using social distancing measures). Even with the limited road clean-up activity this year, the Adopt-a-Road program still managed to clean-up over 175 bags of litter from the roadsides.Hats off and a big Thank You to all.
Prior to the standing orders due to Covid-19, there was a contest to award the group/person etc who picked up the most bags, completed the necessary status report on line. However, since some folks followed the directive, some didn’t, some completed the status report on line, others emailed or dropped them off. The committee decided that it was not fair to make any award since there were so many issues in 2020 and hopefully 2021 can be a different story in many ways.
There are several AAR folks that need to be recognize for doing a wonderful job
for over 5 years of dedication to the AAR program:

- 4A Mini Storage
- Earth Friendly Farm
- Lakeland Estates
- Cartecay River Experience
- Mt Light Unitarian Church
- Jack & Sue Heard….who have moved to another state
If you see someone that you know in these organizations thank them for their dedication, they deserve it. There will be more folks add to this list in 2021. 2020 has been a very uncertain year in many ways, election, virus, scandals the list could go on & on but one thing for certain the litter never stops.

One last note: It is easier for the secretary to respond, keep records etc. if all will start using the web site KeepGilmerBeautiful.org, scroll down to adopt a road, click on status report and just follow the directions, also if you need supplies just fill out where the note section/unique finds and just let her know that you need bags, grabbers whatever. She will respond when they are ready for pick up.
