Happy New Year

What a year 2020 has been!
Well 2021 is the year of the Jetsons! We should all be flying in our little bubble. In many ways, I suppose we are in our country bubbles. After a few weeks of lockdown, we were lucky to give dog training classes in people without social distancing, only our dog keep that distance~
We know people in other countries that are still teaching via zoom and dogs aren't allowed to be socialised.  How lucky we are !

We have our own YouTube video channel. Subscribe to it to see what our homestay dogs are up to. We try to make them short and sharp and give an idea of what your dog is doing when they are part of our family.

Will Work For Food

Does your dog wolf down meals in mere seconds? Then both of you are missing out. For dogs, eating should be work. First of all because searching and hunting for food is natural for canines whose ancestors spent the majority of their time this way. dog puzzle

And second of all—and here’s the major benefit to you—switching to a work-to-eat strategy keeps your dog wonderfully occupied during your absences or while you’re trying to focus at home. That means he won’t be splitting apart the couch cushions or getting into the rubbish bin or barking up a storm at the birds outside the window, driving you and your neighbours crazy.

Food in man's handInstead of just serving up your dog’s meals, try feeding him in treat puzzles or Kongs that he gets when you’re not home or when you have a particularly important work meeting to attend from home. This way, your dog will spend half his day retrieving his food and the other half sleeping off the mental effort. The result? A calmer, more content dog and a less chaotic household.

The key to a successful work-to-eat program is to start simple and only gradually increase the level of difficulty. You can go low-tech by hiding your dog’s food under a laundry basket or cardboard box, or inside an empty cereal box. Or you can use interactive food toys like treat balls, Kongs, or lick mats.

Kongs in particular are great because you can easily make the food retrieval task more difficult—and more rewarding—by varying the type of stuffing and the tightness of the layers. An easy Kong might contain dry food and chicken bits and be plugged by peanut butter or wet food. An advanced Kong might be a many-layered masterpiece that includes food loaf cubes, dog biscuits, wet food, and your dog’s favourite table scraps if you indulge him in such culinary delights. Boiling OverIs Your Dog's Play Too Rough? (Nicole Wilde)

Q: How can I get my dog to play nice? He gets over-excited and plays too rough with other dogs at the dog park. He also tries to play with dogs that obviously aren't into it. (He hasn't hurt any of his playmates but it scares their owners.) How can I help him dial down the intensity of his play?

This is a question that we were asked recently. This is for you! :)

"Iron Crotch" Kung Fu Training Involves Taking a Log Directly to the Testicles

Iron Crotch

From Neatorama- Part of traditional martial arts training is conditioning the body to withstand hard blows by building up bone and muscular density. One kung fu tradition from China calls for the sensitive and vulnerable male genitals to be prepared to take heavy blows. Training involves ramming a steel-capped log into a student's groin.

Quotes
“I’m a big believer in boredom. Boredom allows one to indulge in curiosity and out of curiosity comes everything. All the [technology] stuff is wonderful, but having nothing to do can be wonderful, too.”
– Steve Jobs

"We've begun to long for the pitter patter of little feet - so we bought a dog. Well, it's cheaper, and you get more feet." --Rita Rudner

A bad decision well implemented is better than a brilliant decision not well implemented.
-- Peter Schutz

Listen carefully to first criticisms made of your work. Note just what it is about your work that critics don't like -- then cultivate it. That's the only part of your work that's individual and worth keeping.

The Last larf !

Two Boys were walking home from Sunday school after hearing a strong preaching on the devil. One said to the other, "What do you think about all this Satan stuff?"

The other boy replied, "Well you know how Santa Claus turned out. It's probably just your dad."

I used to watch golf on TV but my doctor told me that I need more exercise, so now I watch tennis.

Manager: "For a man with no experience, you are certainly asking for a high salary."

Applicant: "Well, the work is much harder when you don't know what you're doing!"

-----------------------------------------------

After a particularly poor game of golf, a popular club member skipped the clubhouse and started to go home. As he was walking to the parking lot to get his car, a policeman stopped him and asked, "Did you tee off on the sixteenth hole about twenty minutes ago?"

"Yes," the golfer responded.

"Did you happen to hook your ball so that it went over the trees and off the course?"

"Yes, I did. How did you know?" he asked.

"Well," said the policeman very seriously, "Your ball flew out onto the highway and crashed through a driver's windshield. The car went out of control, crashing into five other cars and a fire truck. The fire truck couldn't make it to the fire, and the building burned down.

So, what are you going to do about it?"

The golfer thought it over carefully and responded... "I think I'll close my stance a little bit, tighten my grip and lower my right thumb."
