Autumnal Doginess Decends
The evenings walk with our best mates is getting darker by the day, and daylight saving isn't going to save us.
As the opportunity for engaging with our dog diminishes, remember there is no such thing as bad weather for outdoor activities, only the wrong clothes. There is much to enjoy about autumn, the light, the falling leaves and the cooler temperatures, more regular rain and the smell of a wet pooch. OK, OK... not so much of the wet pooch! But it certainly is good to arrive home and have a handy old towel to give your dog a great ol rub down, they will appreciate coming home all the more.
(Don't forget, city dwellers have that special deal at your local Animates, you can always give them a shampoo and blow dry 'any time they are open', and for a whole year, for less than ten beers or twenty flat whites. Don't forget to tell them who recommended you)

 The annual pooch pool party is kicking off Saturday, 10 April at Waltham Pool. It’s sure to set tails in motion.
There’s just a few rules – only one dog per owner, and no humans in the pool
The $3.50 pool party entry fee will go to the SPCA.

These Doggie Temperature Facts
- Dogs are more sensitive to high temperatures than humans because they rely on breathing out hot air and breathing in cold air to regulate their body temperature. If the air is hot, particularly if it’s close to body temperature, they overheat.
- Short dogs and dogs with squat faces have an ever-harder time than other dogs regulating their body temperature. They overheat faster in hot weather, enclosed spaces, or during vigorous exercise.
- Dogs sweat only through their noses and the pads of their feet. Having such a limited area to sweat from also contributes to rapid overheating and potentially fatal heat strokes in hot or humid weather.
