Got a Dog? Live Long and Prosper, but don't forget to say Thanks!
Every time we change from daylight saving to winter dull and drudge there is a fall off in 'dog training' practice - is it the time poor lifestyles we lead or is it our body clocks? Whatever it is, the Dog's don't care, they are adjusting their clocks anyway.
Their 'time' cues are many and varied, it might be the neighbours garage door with the squeal no one else hears, or it might be the 5.06pm diesel bus with its distinctive odour or some other pattern that precedes some reward like food time, or Dad coming home.....or that walk.
Your Dog is a pattern learner. See if you can pick which ones... we are always interested to hear from others what their Dog is teaching them. (We don't live long enough to learn everything there is to know about our Dogs. Hence we need to learn from others.)
But just as daylight saving is 'interesting" so too is the change of the seasons. Watch your Dog take an interest in cupboards (the mice are coming indoors) or is now noting that you're putting on warmer clothing (patterns again) for your Dog walks? Remember, those of us with a Dog are MORE LIKELY to achieve our 150minutes of exercise that we are told we need to do to live long and prosper!

Rehoming Poppy
This wee little muscled pug is quite content living with us, but she really does need a home. Unfortunately, the human family had a few children who didn't take their responsibility seriously enough thus, Poppy is now looking for a human family with more time on their hand and will love her has her mother has.

- A dog eating grass means it will rain soon.
- A yawning dog predicts a change in the weather.
- A dog that howls, growls, or whimpers for no apparent reason means a ghost is nearby
- Meeting a white-and-black spotted dog gives you good luck in business endeavours that day.
- Conversely, it’s apparently unlucky to meet a barking dog early in the morning
- A strange dog walking into your house means you will soon make a new friend.

There’s a Lot More to Masala Chai Than Spiced Milk Tea
We visited India in 2012 (dog training adventure) and loved visiting the tea plantation which is why I included this article
Chaiwallas—street or roadside stand vendors that sold tea—started adding masala to tea sometime between World War I and the 1930s.
This innovation was likely inspired by those Ayurvedic and Muslim medicinal spice brews—and because the cheap tea tasted bitter and strong. “Adding the spices was really an act of rebellion against the British,” says Sana Javeri Kadri, owner of Diaspora Co.

My neighbour noticed that her dog's hearing was failing.
She took the dog to the vet and he noticed it was a build-up of fur in the dog's ears. He suggested she get "Nair" hair remover, and apply it in the ears once a month if she didn't want it to happen again.
She goes to the drugstore and gets a bottle of "Nair Hair Remover." At the register the druggist says, "If this is for your underarms, don't use deodorant for a few days." She says it's not.
He says, "If it's for your legs, don't shave for a few days."
Again she says it's not. "If you must know", she says, "It's for my Schnauzer."
The druggist replies, "Stay off your bicycle for a week."
