Reaching Out:
Pandemic Holiday Edition

"It is our weakness, not strength, that binds us to each other and to a Higher Power and somehow gives us the ability to do what we could never do alone."
                                                                                                       --Our Invitation to You

With abstinence and recovery, many of us learned to experience the meaning, joy, and connection holidays can offer. Due to the pandemic and its impacts, many of us will not partake in the usual rituals and traditions that mark the end of the year. Checking in with a fellow, whether you are in need of support or have support to give, is one way to soothe the feelings of isolation and grief so prevalent this year.

At the last C.O.LA. meeting, officers and meeting representatives discussed that meeting attendance has changed as this tool of recovery may pose new challenges to our members. The tool of the telephone is another way we can share the gift of recovery with each other, and hopefully whatever recovery you share you will get back and then some!

Gratitude for IDEA Day 2020

Three cheers for our dedicated Retreat Committee Co-chairs, Alisha and Lisa, and their fellow committee members who produced our first ever virtual Gulf Coast IDEA Day! It was a special event inspired by the traditions of our formerly annual retreat with the Mississippi OA Intergroup. IDEA Day 2020 featured several speakers from diverse backgrounds across the country who shared their personal experience, strength, and hope of recovery in OA.

The committee called on the gifts of their fellows to help with planning, tech, facilitation, meditation, prayer, movement, writing, song, and more to pull together a well-paced, engaging four hour workshop!

We are so grateful to the Retreat Committee for their service and to all who claimed a virtual seat.

How to contribute to C.O.LA.'s 7th Tradition
A note about the 7th Tradition: The C.O.LA. Treasurer disperses 30% of the 7th Tradition we receive to OA World Service and 10% to OA Region 8, keeping the remaining 60% for our intergroup.
The next C.O.L.A. Intergroup meeting will be Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 9:00 AM CST. Scroll to the bottom of C.O.LA.'s meeting list page for Zoom info.
