Hinkle Family Update

How are the Hinkles Doing?

2020 is definitely not the year that any of us expected and we are grateful to be able to walk together through the ups and downs.  From family dinners (extra special since Braden moved out earlier this year and the girls love having him back in the house), to watching shows all together in our room, Saturday walks on the beach, and all the activities a family of 7 can get up to we find joy in our time together.  We grieve the missed trips and the folks who had planned to visit that haven’t been able to come visit.  Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we continue to serve in Fremantle.

What is going on in our lives:

Braden:  This month Braden will graduate from Curtin University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts.  This is the completion of three years of study and art practice which culminates with a graduate show.  He has also been the president of the committee putting this show together.  Ultimately Braden wants to be a lecturer (professor) in Fine Art and a Curator in a local gallery while maintaining his own art practice.  This means more school is in store for Braden.  But he will be taking some time away from that to return to the states (pray that he is able to get well priced flights), marry Megan (his lovely fiancé) and establish themselves as a “real-life couple” in order to apply for a Partner Visa in Australia and move back ASAP.

Braden has been integral in the audio/visual aspects of our ministry at Fremantle Church.  His departure will leave a large hole that he is busy building a team to run sound, video, and simulcast on Sunday mornings.

Madison (Maddie): After completing courses in Assistant to Nursing and Population Health last year Maddie is preparing to complete a transition course at Murdoch University next year in order to start working towards a degree in food science and nutrition .  She continues to be a blessing to our family by helping Georgia and Rose with school and reading.  She has served the musical school we attended by volunteering multiple days and the receptionist.  She continues to navigate life well with her Ehlers Danlos and we see her trust in God’s provision grow with each flare and bad day.  Maddie continues to serve Fremantle Church in our creche’ and Freo Kids ministry.  She has just returned from a  Scripture Union Young Adults camp in Ningaloo where  God provided s new friends and fellowship for her.

Reagan: Reagan has completed a Cert III in Foundations of Design in Fashion at TAFE.  This is after completing a Certain II in Adult Education earlier this year.  The Foundations course saw Reagan confront and overcome some fears by taking the train into the city three times a week, entering a space where she might not known anyone, and being back in a classroom setting after being homeschooled for the last 6 years.  She has made new friends and is finding her way enough to to commit to a diploma in Fashion starting next year.  She turned 16 this year and while she continues to miss her state-side friends with a fierceness that demonstrates her loyalty each day she takes the bitter sweet move to making Australia more of a home for herself.  Reagan also serves Fremantle Church in the creche’ and Freo Kids ministry.  She did sing with our worship team during quarantine as we live-streamed our gathering but when we returned to meeting in-person she was ready to retire from that role.

Georgia (GK):  This year Georgia turned 13 and she continues to flourish in her homeschooling becoming more self directed.  She continues to take voice and guitar lessons (she has an acoustic and electric) at Penny Lane where she also volunteers as a receptionist two days a week.  She has some really great friends that each one of them support each other with beauty and grace.  We are grateful that they are walking together in the way of encouragement.  She has begun to serve Fremantle Church in the creche’.  Thirteen can be hard but it also opens up babysitting opportunities that she is taking full advantage of.  Her humor is infectious and we are excited to see what the next year brings.  We have seen her faith grow deeper and are thankful for two Scripture Union camps that have encouraged her in her walk with Jesus.

Rose: Our true Aussie girl continues to grow in confidence in herself and who she is in Jesus.  She is inquisitive with a “can i ask you a question?”, never far from her lips.  She continues to grow in her homeschooling efforts and loves to finish her self-directed portion of learning before the other girls in the house get out of bed.  She is a dear friend to a few young ladies and walks well with them in their joy and pain.  She loves to walk along with her older sister when they babysit .  She is quick to help in the kitchen as meals are prepared.  She serves our weekly small group by corralling the smaller children together and keeping them entertained as we do the Bible study.  This is her last year in the single digits and we are grateful she still loves to cuddle.  She may be our youngest but she is no longer our baby.

Shannon: This year has seen Shannon walk along with grieving friends, fight for broken relationships to be restored, guiding worship at Fremantle Church, expanding our Arts @ Fremantle Church as we seek to care for the artist in our community, homeschooling our two youngest, and putting up with me.  In the midst of all that she has been in the studio creating a whole new line of jewelry that will be in a local shop just in time for Christmas.  This year has also seen her hunger for God and His written word expand and be filled with great tools.  She is also co-leading a Bible Study for women in our community who are newly seeking the way of Christ. Her creative and caring spirit makes our home and the church we serve a reflection of God’s grace in the world.  She also challenges me in our health  by keeping us moving as we walk early each morning together.  (it doesn’t hurt that we can walk along an ocean view).

Lee:  As for me I get to be the husband of a great and gracious lady and the father of 5 amazing children (2 who would remind me that they are adults now).  In God’s grace I am pastoring a growing church and seeing lives changed by the God who is steadfast in His love and pursuit of His people.  I celebrated my 50th birthday this year and the men of our gathering gifted me a new set of golf clubs.  I am trying to play each week and am finding great joy in being on the links.  I am hoping to write more in the coming year and as we finish up 2020 might see the beginning of a podcast (which is way outside of my comfort zone) so I ask for your prayers as I begin to pursue those tools and that God will use it to bless our community.

As we enter into the last month of the year our minds turn toward Advent, Christmas, and if you raise support end of the year giving.

There is a link below to make an end of year gift.  Through this year we have maintain good support levels but as the toll of COVID continues we are beginning to see some of our support decrease.  On the Fremantle Church side of giving there continues to be a strong faithfulness and desire to move toward self-sufficient support of our pastoral ministry.  The ultimate goal is three years and we are on track to achieve this.

As an goal for end of year gifts we are aiming for one time gifts of $5000 and to add $500 in month support.  This will help make up the changes we have experienced during 2020.
