LeMond Honored with Congressional Gold Medal Joins Congressman Thompson, Tyler Hamilton to Support Velodrome
Greg LeMond was officially awarded a Congressional Gold Medal, making him the first cyclist and 10th individual athlete in history to ever achieve the award. See the VeloNews story here.
Several days after the announcement, Greg joined California Congressman Mike Thompson, who nominated him for the award, Tyler Hamilton and several other cycling influencers and business leaders to show support for the National Sports and Events Center that will include the National Velodrome, the first indoor velodrome in the Eastern U.S. LeMond is the Honorary Chairman of the Velodrome Development Foundation that is leading a $5 million capital campaign for the project.
