DONATE
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CO-FOUNDERS
In a word, gratitude!

In December we mailed over one thousand copies of our Annual Report, including an envelope requesting a donation.  Many people responded, generously donating over $13,000 to the Maya Gold Foundation.  Gifts continue to come in.  With each envelope we opened and every gift received, our hearts became more and more full.  Why?  We have quite a team doing the work of the Maya Gold Foundation.  Board members, Youth Action Team members, Juliet, our Program Consultant, colleges interns, and volunteers give of themselves to put our mission into action.

But it is not our work alone that can activate the mission.

Funds are used to implement programs, support the work we do to reduce trafficking, and support others locally who engage in similar work.  While we do receive some funding through grants, the great majority of funds come from donations like the ones we received this past month.

You are making it happen.  Your kindness is fueling the work we do.  Your support is at the foundation of "empowering youth to access their inner wisdom and realize their dreams".

For this, we share much gratitude.

With love,

Elise and Mathew

FOUNDATION "ADOPTS" A HIGHWAY IN NEW PALTZ
After over a year on the wait list, we were notified this fall that a one-mile stretch of Route 32 in New Paltz was available through the county "Adopt-A-Highway" program.  We formally applied and were approved, and the signs were just installed last week. Beginning this April, we will be coordinating teen and adult volunteers who wish to help keep New Paltz beautiful.  The section begins at the corner of Main Street and Route 208 South in New Paltz (by Bacchus) and continues towards Gardiner.  We welcome volunteers who would like to pitch in!

WELCOME TO OUR SPRING 2021 INTERNS
Julia Alessio (l. above) is joining the Maya Gold Foundation family as our spring 2020 Digital Media Intern. Julia is excited to work with our foundation for many reasons - one being that she loves our mission! "I wish I knew about the Maya Gold Foundation when I was a teen because it would have been helpful to me," says Julia. After graduating from SUNY New Paltz, Julia hopes to begin a career in video production. She looks forward to the experience of working in a professional environment and to be able to apply her video production skills to our organization outside of the classroom.

Jamie Kosaki (r. above), is a senior at Marist College majoring in Psychology, and will be joining us as a Development and Fundraising Intern this Spring.  "I hope to gain valuable perspectives and understandings of others through this internship. I would like to learn more about actions that can be taken in the Hudson Valley and all greater global communities. I would love to learn more about social and humanitarian efforts. Through this internship I hope to gain interpersonal skills and experience that can be applied to my future career", commented Jamie.  Jamie will be attending and participating in Board and Committee meetings this spring.
