Tell the City of Los Angeles bus shelters are critical
Bus shelters are an integral part of the transit network and LA needs comprehensive bus shelters everywhere.
The City is seeking input now on new bus shelters and street furniture - make your voice heard!
Our recommended feedback to the City, in conjunction with Investing In Place, is as follows:
Prioritize placing bus shelters and other street furniture along Metro’s Tier 1 and Tier 2 routes in the NextGen network. The city should align their bus shelter building with Metro's NextGen network.
Return any revenue from commercialization of the public right-of-way to communities in need. The City should utilize existing definitions of High Need Communities in programs such as Vision Zero and Safe Routes to School to provide funding back into communities impacted by unsafe public spaces.
Set minimums, not maximums, for bus shelter installation. The City should look to get as many new bus shelters installed as possible, especially as LA continues to warm due to climate change, by setting minimum benchmark progress with defined penalties for failing to meet the marks.
