Hi everyone,

Our last webinar of the year is a very special one. This Saturday, we're coming back to a topic we've discussed often: the conflict between dairy ranching and native ecosystems in Point Reyes National Seashore Park. We will be joined by Skyler Thomas who made the wonderful documentary The Shame of Point Reyes and who will show a new video made especially for this webinar.

Over the past years, our efforts to spread the word about this conflict have resulted in increased public awareness as well as increased activism on the ground, so we are keen to keep it going. But this issue is not just one for our local community–it is a local fight of truly global import.

The struggle between ranching and nature is one that repeats itself throughout the Americas and beyond. And the discourse that upholds livestock grazing as the solution to climate change has now gone global and viral, but it rests on assertions and premises that are lies. This becomes obvious to anyone who visits Point Reyes, and this Saturday you will have the opportunity to find out what's really going on regardless of where you are.

You can already start learning about the issues around public lands ranching in the Western United States by watching our past webinar with ecologist and author George Wuerthner, Climate Change, Wildfires and the Grazing of the West.

If you missed last week's Agriculture and the Soil Solution, or would simply like to explore further, check out vegan-organic farmer Helen Atthowe's websites: One Path to Veganic Permaculture and Woodleaf Farm. And to get more of a taste of how Conservation Agriculture can remedy the issues caused by industrial agriculture, read excerpts of the Rethinking Food and Agriculture chapters Paradigms of Agriculture and Soil Health and the Revolutionary Potential of Conservation Agriculture.

We look forward to connecting and sharing with you all a last time before the end of the year. Please support our work into the new year by keeping us in mind for your end of year giving–even the smallest donations make a difference. You can also support us by designating Seed the Commons/Millahcayotl Association as your beneficiary on Amazon Smile; a small percentage of your purchases will be donated to us at no extra cost to you (we do not encourage anyone to shop on Amazon, but if you already do, it's best to turn some of their funds towards community organizations).

Happy end of 2020!
