Dear Friends,
Many of you have attended Stone Church Arts concerts or workshops or retreats at Stone Church Center. Sadly, those institutions are no more. Some of you have enjoyed our livestream World at Home concerts presented more recently by Halcyon Arts. We have traveled the world together through music, art and spirituality.
I am joyful to say that the journeys continue in 2021. There is so much more to explore of the great variety of music from around the planet with our World at Home series and, soon enough, at live, in person concerts. We will offer opportunities for your musical development and deepening spirituality in a variety of workshops and retreats.
The Founding Directors of Halcyon Arts edited and adopted our new Articles of Organization (bylaws) at a meeting this past week. I want to thank them for their hard work. They are a wonderful group of people from all walks of life, and, together, we are accomplishing something of which we can be proud. We are establishing a cultural arts organization dedicated to bringing world music and spirituality to the public so that traditions may live, be experienced, and inspire and enrich our lives.
Please join me in raising your glasses to Halcyon Arts, its Founding Directors, and journeys past and future!
Happy New Year to one and All!

Jason Anick Acoustic Trio Streamed Live
7:30 pm, Saturday, January 9
Fiddle, guitar, and bass—it’s a combination as old as the hills. But follow Jason Anick, Max O’Rourke and Greg Loughman into those hills, and you’ll find yourself taking unexpected turns and discovering vistas you never knew were out there. It’s a new brand of acoustic music they make—traditional instrumentation spinning ear-catching melodies, channeling the wit and spontaneity of three irrepressible musical storytellers.
On Zoom
1 - 4 pm, Sunday, February 7
with Nancy Salwen
A singing workshop for “non-singers,” beginning singers, and anyone who wants to feel more comfortable and expressive with their voice. Through a combination of games, improvisation and simple songs from around the world we’ll explore different aspects of the voice.
Strengthen the Spirit August 13-15
with Heath Missner and Robert Bowler
Hallelujah Farm Retreat Center, Chesterfield, New Hampshire
Join us for a weekend of spiritual exploration and companionship. After a long journey of isolation during the pandemic, we are joyful to come together on retreat to strengthen our spirits. Support for your own spiritual journey, as you discover its shape and form, is essential as you build the spiritual muscles to move forward from day to day. Join us for a weekend of prayer and meditation, spiritual friendship, and unconditional love. We will learn about western and eastern spiritual traditions, the varieties of spiritual practice, and soul friendship. We will offer Morning Meditations, spiritual companionship, and Lectio Divina. Guided by prayer and meditation practice, Celtic spirituality, and interfaith understandings, we seek refreshment in one another's company and in nature.
An Introduction to Celtic Shamanism October 15-17
with Jane Burns
Hallelujah Farm Retreat Center, Chesterfield, New Hampshire
This workshop will lead you into the hollow hills, the icy sea, and the splendor of the sky, as they once were experienced by the ancient Celtic peoples. Through discussion and shamanic journeying, we will unravel their unique and poetic vision, their wild and courageous heart, and their deep reverence for the natural world, both seen and unseen. We will learn how to access the Otherworld, and locate our spirit allies there. We will try our hand at shapeshifting, omen hunting and love-talking to nature. We will swim with the salmon and run with the deer, as the storied Fianna once did. We will ignite, align and draw inspiration from the three cauldrons of warming, motion and knowing. We will explore the Celtic Medicine Wheel, Samhain and the dark time of the year, the spiritual intention of ordeal, and the transmigration of the soul.
We have gathered a talented group of people together as Founding Directors of Halcyon Arts. We will soon start meeting to do the work of incorporating and forming a 501(c)3. Bringing the world of music and spirituality to New England through streaming during the pandemic -- and at venues near you through live, in-person events someday soon -- has a price tag that is not entirely covered by ticket and registration costs. The 501(c)3 application alone costs $600, as well. We need help from donors, and even better, members who contribute each month. Thanks for helping to lay the groundwork of Halcyon Arts.
