What Do You Expect
December 31, 2020
We made it! It's finally the last day of 2020. I know that I'm not the first to say, "Good riddance to bad rubbish." It has been quite a year and we're all looking forward to its end. We're ready for something new. We hope for something better. I have a personal philosophy that I've probably shared with you in the past...

Never run away from anything. Always run towards something.

I certainly understand the desire to get the heck out of 2020 as fast as you can tonight. Go! Run! Do your thing. Leave the loss and isolation of 2020 behind you. Before you go, I'd like to ask...

Where are you running off to?

In the past, I've spend the last few months of the year planning and goal-setting. I have prayer and long, difficult conversations with people about my direction for the coming year. Those people mostly just listen as I talk it out with God. By the time we get to December 31st, I know exactly where I'm headed for the next twelve months and why.

This year is no different. Let me tell you why...

In John 16:33 Jesus tells the disciples something that has been crucial to sustaining my faith. It has been critical to my spiritual and emotional health."Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."  (NLT)

I plan to launch my sixth book in 2021.I plan to do blog tours and virtual interviews. In the summer (after I'm vaccinated) I plan to have a series of outdoor readings. I plan for this to be my most successful book ever. I have plans, and I...

Expect to have troubles.

Many people struggle with their faith because of the bad things in the world. How could a good God let all of this happen? I'm sure 2020 has challenged your faith and caused you to re-evaluate your relationship with Jesus. No? Just me? Okay.

Well, when those moments happen to just me, I turn to John 16:33. God never promised us a perfect world without trouble. In fact, Jesus specifically told us that we would have trouble. However, in the same verse Jesus tells us that we can have peace in the midst of life's trouble.

"I have told you all of this so that you may have peace in me..."

While I'm running out of 2020 like my shoes are on fire, I know I'm running towards a new book and new opportunities. I also know that there is trouble in 2021, just like there was in 2020 and back in 1975. I trust that Jesus has overcome these troubles and I can run in peace.

Set your goals and run in peace.

Take time to decide what you're running towards next year. Don't just run from the pain and loss of 2020. Go in the direction God is sending you. You may not be clear on the final destination, but hear God's voice through the Bible, through sermons, and through spirit-filled friends. Set the course, the direction. Be clear. Pray about it. Meditate on it. Go where God is taking you and go with the peace of mind that He has already overcome every obstacle.

I believe Proverbs 19:21 that says, "You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail." I'm headed into 2021 with big plans. I'm going to leave the outcomes of those plans to God. This was my year of "RELEASE" and I run into 2021 unburdened by expectations of a perfect year.

2020 has increased my dependence on God to make things happen. It has shown me that we are not in control of anything. We've only had the illusion of control in the past. When God shuts it down, it's down. When God paves the way, it's wide open.

With this in mind, I chose my word for 2021. Let me share it with you. It's hot off the press and you're the first to hear it...

My #oneword for 2021 is....
GRACE

We have been graced by God, through Jesus, to handle all that 2021 will bring. We can run in peace. We can run with faith. We can run towards something new, something better. I look forward to running along side you as you move towards God's perfect will for your life. Happy New Year!

Love,

Kamryn

Just Stop Talking

Talking about your dreams, visions, and goals can be beneficial when you talk to the right people. However, talking to the wrong people about your goals to seek validation can sabotage your efforts. If the Lord has shown you what he wants you to do…do it. Start the business. Take the job. Write the book. Apologize. Forgive. Don’t answer that. Make the call. DO IT or DON’T DO IT…whatever it is, follow God’s instruction. READ MORE.
