Greetings from The Haid (well, actually, my house)!

I hope this message finds you healthy and well. And if not, I hope the offering here brings a smile to your face and feelings of care and encouragement envelop you across the interwebs during these strange and difficult times.

In many faith traditions, Christmas is celebrated until January 6, Epiphany, the holy day that commemorates the three wise men's visit to the baby Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. As such, today is technically the Seventh day of Christmas, and after this year, do we need that continuation of celebration! We had planned to send this to you by Christmas Eve, but 2020 did not cooperate. I learned a lot about video editing while planning a pandemic family Christmas and navigating other minor challenges and a few debacles.

The first recording of this effort did not work, so we gathered again on December 17 in order to spread some holiday cheer! An adaptation from the original 1948 radio play, we are thrilled to share with you A Miracle on 34th Street - an online reading. Special thanks to Marcus P. Hyde for the sound design and execution, and especially to Warren English for his leadership of our online readings. More to come in 2021!

In my house anyway, we continue celebrating each of the Twelve Days of Christmas until Epiphany. The tree is still up, small gifts are given, and we are treasuring this time together, though it is just my husband, my two children, and me. So I hope you will join me in continuing to celebrate this holiday season in whatever way you choose. This year and into the new year, let's remember with fondness and gratefulness all of the gifts we are given, whether love, laughter, joy, comfort, peace, fellowship, or community, even through the internet.

From all of The Abbey Players, we wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year! We look forward to a time when we can all gather again in person! Until then, know that you are missed. We appreciate the connections we have now and can't wait to see you again!
