New Year, New Classes

We are so excited to welcome in 2021 with a fresh start! Our classes will continue to be offered virtually and can be done from anywhere. Please email us with any questions, or click the pictures below for more information.

Using a Disney or musical theatre song of your choosing, we will learn how to bring these pieces to life in the way we sing, act, and dance! Students will be challenged to include all 3 of these components in their piece thus building the path toward becoming triple threats on the stage!

This class will be taught by Lauren & Janie from Birch House Immersive (along with Miss Bella). We will explore all elements of creating immersive theatre - writing, design, and creating the audience experience! Students will find ways to adapt these skills and craft an original piece that allows us to experience the magic of immersive theatre through a digital setting.

This class will work to build a solid foundation of the skills necessary for improv performance and sketch writing. Students will learn those oh so important words, “yes, and”, as well as basic sketch structure and character writing. By the end of this class, you’ll have a solid understanding of initiating and continuing scenes with little or no prompt, and being able to put your ideas down on paper so that actors can bring them to life!

If you had 5 minutes to explain an entire musical to someone who knew nothing about it, how would you do it? In this brand new class, we will be producing a musical short (a smidge longer than 5 minutes!) based on a show like Wicked, Into the Woods, Hairspray, Enchanted, Phantom of the Opera, etc. You will cast yourselves, write a condensed script, choose which important moments deserve a mini performance moment, and become storytelling experts!

Musicals such as South Pacific, Sounds of Music, Music Man, Oliver!, My Fair Lady, and many more, represent what we call the “Golden Age” in musical theatre. In this class, students will use their analytical and creative skills to relate and modernize these classics for present-day audiences!

Explore Shakespeare’s villains, lovers, and heroes as we take a deeper look at what type of characters this legendary playwright created. Our ensemble will develop an original story using Shakespeare’s monologues and short scenes as we throw multiple characters into a single show! Who knows what could happen with these wacky characters?!

Let’s go explore the Hundred Acre Woods along with Winnie the Pooh and all of our other beloved friends! In this class, young students will begin to learn the importance of improvisation, ensemble group work, and how to trust their own instincts and creative skills. We will develop original characters, places, and stories all inspired by A. A. Milne’s children’s books.

By exploring the world of Dr. Seuss, young students will learn important acting skills including creating environment, developing character relationships, movement work, and improvisation. We will tell an original story based off of the classic books!

After tackling beginning movement and dance techniques, we will twirl, bop, and leap collectively to bring a story to life through dance! All you need are comfortable clothes and floor space!

Students will explore the foundations of play writing including scene writing, character development and structure. This will culminate in the writing of a short play that they will work to stage digitally with their fellow ensemble members. The first half of this course will be focused on the writing process, while the second half will transition from page to stage!

This class will explore principles of makeup application for the stage, skin care before/after applying makeup and color theory.
