Our Italian Vibrance team, Elena and Paolo, below, share a history of The Epiphany and the Bufana. The Bufana is unique to Italian cultural heritage.

Epiphany is a seasonal observation of ‘return of the light’ and the recognition of the day the three Wise Men found the Christ child. The word epiphany has several meanings:
* An inspiration, the ‘ah ha’ moment
* The manifestation of the divinity
* In the Christian religion the Epiphany aligns with the revelation the babe’s divinity; from the Greek epiphàneia

Historically, this day was the celebration of all divinities, who manifested themselves during the Epiphany particular occasion. Releasing itself from a strictly religious meaning, the Epiphany today is a generic revelation. Its' meaning was made famous by Joyce in his short story collection Dubliners, in which it happens that an experience, a situation or the observation of a detail leads a character to a profound reconsideration of himself and his life: a sudden realization.
So we can consider the Epiphany as the condition that leads us to understand the reasons of our behavior, (of the book that inspires an epiphany about the importance of beauty?): a sort of illumination, something that, as the etymon reminds us, appears to us from above. An 'Ah Ha' moment, leading to a paradigm shift in consciousness!

The days between Christmas and Befana mark a very tricky time of the year, and a critical one for the popular calendar, coming right after sowing; it is a period full of hopes and expectations for the future crop, on which depends the survival in the coming year.
|
|
|
In the popular Italian tradition the Befana is beloved by children of all ages. The Befana’s traditional image is an old woman with a very long and pointed nose flying on her broom and carrying gifts to all children. On Epiphany night the Befana flies over the roofs of the houses on her broom, descends from the chimneys and fills the socks left hanging by good children with chocolate, candies and toys, while she fills the ones of the bad children with coal.

In this elemental Vibrance Tribal gathering, to the beat of Sanga’s drum, we’ll connect our taproot to the centre of mother Earth, spiral the earth’s energy upward through all chakras, energize all meridians, until we lift ourselves upward connecting to the Creative Force of the Universe.
As we open our portals to dance through doors of dizziness, nausea, fear of falling, we spin like tops, melt into the grass, spin again, becoming and embodying the connection between Earth and Heaven.
Opening our hearts, lifting our spirits, we will sing and dance, play and pray all day and into the night, celebrating Nature’s Rhythms, the dark and new moon.

Vibrance Lifestyle Retreat

Join our Vibrance Faculty, for one or two weeks of a Vibrance Lifestyle retreat, taking place at Villa Aristi, a stunning private home on the hillside above the Old Harbor in Spetses. What is “Vibrance Lifestyle’? While on retreat, we begin our days with a morning wake up practice, including sound, song, dance, yoga, qi gung, aquatic bodywork, touch or perhaps an early sunrise practice on a secluded beach….all followed by a nutritious and delicious brunch at Villa Aristi.
After brunch, you are free to enjoy the estate grounds for swimming, tennis, or R&R, or to schedule massage & bodywork sessions, or ride your quad or golf cart or scooter to one of Spetses enticing beaches for an afternoon of sun, sand, & sea. We’ll arrange for one group excursion on a boat, for either sunrise to noon, or to sunset for those interested.
Five dinners at Villa Aristi will provide with authentic and local Greek cuisine as well as Vibrance Lifestyle foods for oral enjoyment as well as health & wellness. One celebratory dinner out and about in Spetses, and one ‘on your own’ to do as you choose…either a quiet night at Villa Aristi or in Spetses.
Afternoon practice from 4:00 - 6:00, followed by sunset aperitifs with dinner served at 7:30.
As with all retreats, your attendance is highly desired, though you may choose to sleep in, or rest by the pool for a morning or afternoon.

It royally rests between the sea and a fabulous garden, while its premises are sheltered by tall pine trees. Golden Cauliflower Soup
This cauliflower soup recipe is vegan and full of cozy spices, like ginger and turmeric. It’s a healthy soup that’s easy and delicious.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 pounds whole cauliflower (about 1 1/2 medium heads or 8 cups of florets)
- 6 medium garlic cloves
- 6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided, plus additional for garnish
- 1 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
- 1 large yellow onion
- 1 carrot
