LONG JUMP REMINDER
Can all athletes up to U10 please use the two lanes closest to South Terrace for long jump as the mat is set up there for you.
The older athletes use the spray painted lines on the other two lanes.

NEW LOG IN
I have made a new log in:
littleharriers20+U6-U17@gmail.com
This one will allow you to see all age group events.
If your dedicated age group log in doesn't work, try logging out of CompHq and logging back in with this one.

WALKS,  DISTANCE RUNS AND HURDLES
Track hurdles (for older age groups) are on opposite weeks to short hurdles.
For those children who want to do track hurdles, distance runs or walks, please go straight over to Shane, on the track, instead of with the warm up group.  This way, the walks can get started early and we can try to clear the track for when everyone comes over for the running events.

Track hurdles and walks this week!

The PB Classic - an explanation for new families
It would be great to see a strong Harriers presence at this meet. PB of course stands for kids striving for their Personal Best, which is also the basis of our own Little Athletics meets. A PB Classic is held towards the start and the end of each season at the SA Athletics Stadium at Mile End. The PB Classic is open to all Little Athletics members, and is a great chance for kids to work on their PB at the state's premier athletics facility alongside athletes from other clubs.

The nomination cost is $11.20 per athlete regardless of whether they do one or the maximum of five events. A draft program is available and although it may change, is still well worth consulting before deciding which events your athlete/s should sign up for, because it can be a long day if the weather is warm (if it's really warm, there are also hot weather times on the program).  Don't be put off by schedule clashes, as the officials are generally very accommodating if your child for example has both shot put and 100m at the same time - typically prioritise the running, but let them know about it at the slower event so they expect you back after the race. There is a usually a canteen open at the stadium to keep you fed and caffeinated, and often clubs set up marquees and stake out a particular area for the day.

State officials in blue shirts oversee the events and sometimes have good bits of advice for the athletes as well, particularly as they are more stringent on technique and fouls than we parents are at weekly meets!  However, Little Athletics relies on volunteers, so all clubs also need to provide adult volunteers to help run the events, usually one volunteer per family.  You don't need any skills or experience, and you don't need to worry about this when nominating, but we will ask you to sign up later once we know which events we need to provide volunteers for. (A good tip then is to get your volunteer registration in early so you have your pick of event times/durations!)

Looking forward to seeing you there!

"This unique State Championship (previously known as the State Multi-Event Championships) has a set program that athletes participate in to gain points for each performance, with the top three overall highest points scorers presented with medals in each age group.

There is a mixture of running, jumping and throwing events, displaying athlete’s all-round athletic ability. Athletes in the Under 9 to Under 13 age groups compete over one day in a pentathlon (5 events), with the Under 14 age group competing over two days in a hexathlon (6 events) and the Under 15 to Under 17 age groups competing over two days in a heptathlon (7 events). All events are competed at the SA Athletics Stadium.

This Championship is also where the Under 15 State Team athletes are provisionally selected to represent South Australia at the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC). CLICK HERE for more information.

Show us what you’ve got and challenge yourself in the ultimate test of athletic ability at the State Combined Event Championships!"
