We will be trying an in person and virtual session for the January Meeting. For those who are comfortable meeting in person we have been give the ok from Castle Church Brewing Community to test it out.
We will be meeting in the beer garden section of the brewery. There are 3 picnic tables and a couple of couches set up in that area where we can accommodate about 10-12 people. There is also an outdoor area both front and back of the brewery to socialize before and after the general meeting. I would recommend using these areas weather permitting. We will be simulcasting on Zoom for those who may not able to join in person.
  • Please enter/exit with your mask on
  • Respect the 6ft guidelines as set out by the CDC
  • Order at the designated area at the bar only
  • Wear your mask at all times unless eating or drinking while seated - no walking around without a mask
  • Leave your glassware at the table when finished
  • Follow the arrows around the brewery to help with traffic flow
  • Do not rearrange the tables or furniture
  • If you are not feeling well - STAY HOME
  • There will be absolutely NO bottle sharing at Castle Church!

Welcome to 2021! (Can I get an Amen?)

I've never been so happy to see a New Year come around!

It has been a very challenging year for the club, for the brewing community and our local breweries and challenges will continue into the early part of 2021 but I remain hopeful that the worst is behind us and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This "new normal" will need to continue for a little longer and we'll need to be flexible and adjust to the ongoing changes as they present themselves. This will include meeting virtually, a mix of in person and virtual or new locations that can accommodate the group while maintaining social distancing, at least through the first half of 2021.

It's been a tough year - I know we are all tired and are eager to be out and about and back to normal but we'll need to hang in there a little longer. We will try the in person and virtual meetings in January and see how it goes.

In the meantime, stay safe everyone!

Lori

IMPORTANT - 2021 Board of Directors
And the Winners are...

The following members have accepted the following board positions. Voting was held via electronic voting. Please note, while we had several nominees for all positions, these members have accepted and all were unopposed.

President: Lori Warwick
Vice President: Jim Gilson
Treasurer: Paul Warwick

There are still 2 positions that will need to be filled for 2021. Please consider volunteering for VP of Lagers or Secretary positions. Many of you have served on the board in the past and know what is involved. If you have never served and are interested you may view the duties for these positions here: https://bit.ly/33r8w2I

Florida Circuit Competitions

The Florida Circuit Competitions have begun to announce their plans for 2021 and Sunshine Challenge will need to be planned as well. May and June may not be feasible as Cococunt Cup and Hogtown have their events planned (Hogtown is tentative)  for those months.

We are looking at Labor Day Weekend for the Sunshine Challenge. It was felt that it would give us time to adjust to additional challenges and how we will proceed with the scope of the competition.

The Florida Home Brew clubs have gathered together to form a committee to coordinate the comps this year. Some guidelines have been put forth as well. Entry caps will be set at 300 and 4 bottles per entry to accommodate virtual first round judging are just a few.

Please consider volunteering for the Sunshine Challenge Committee in early 2021 so we can begin planning. Its going to be different this year so any and all ideas are welcome!

Jeremy Pittman - RockPit Brewing

For those who don’t yet know, Jeremy was recently involved in an accident with a commercial grade paint sprayer, and as a result, had significant damage done to his finger and hand.

While many people might think that a finger or hand injury doesn’t sound like too big of a deal, this is not your average injury. A hole was blown straight through a joint in Jeremy’s finger, leaving catastrophic damage to his entire hand. He had to immediately undergo surgery, and spend multiple days in the hospital, all while being told that this was a monstrous injury that could take months to recover from.

As a result of this accident, Jeremy has been unable to return to work or take care of some of his own basic needs. His wife Rebecca, is now on a leave of absence from her job in order to help care for him and their two year old daughter.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Jeremy to help offset the overwhelming medical bills that are already coming in as well as to help cover the loss of income during this time. The GoFundMe page can be found here

Brewers Anonymous is also planning a mini festival January 30th at RockPit to help raise money as well. The board has donated a mash tun that was in our shed for the silent auction. If you have other gear or beer to donate you can submit them here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfwRL_Lme4F5Y9hBUI3MLVeBym5LkSh1Sq19cD4NOs592mWXg/viewform

We all wish Jeremy a speedy recovery.

Membership 2021!

Membership remains $20  and is due in January. While the club didn't have as many expenses this year, we also didn't have any income either from our normal raffles etc.

Please send payment via PayPal to:
